This is the deck I used to get from rank goldIII to Master.
It all started getting slaughtered by queen, tokens and rakano decks... And that made me think of an old magic deck "The Solution".

"John Ormerod showed us this deck he had made as a foil to Black/Red and Green/Red decks called 'notasbadasitlooks.dec' almost from the very beginning. It was almost just like it is today, with Crimson Acolytes in the main, and everything else. The deck is just wonderful. It's full of cards no one else would play and cards that make other decks miserable."
So I knew I wanted it to be white blue and be focused on stopping everything red.
Initially it was all lifegain and aegis, with
Shepherd's Horn Lumen Defender Lightning Strike
and
Eilyn's Favor to boot.
And I was winning against red but losing to everything else.
Then I tried adding
Jotun Feast-Caller to aid me in the control matches. And it was great to pair it with killer effects, but I ended up with too many 5 drops.
Lunar Magus is there vs agro and its the best 3 drop you can do in a board of onis and such,
Initially I played 4 but it really helps the opponent in control matches so I reduced it to 2. I don't even play it vs control unless I can use nightfall vs
Auric Runehammer and such.
The last change I made was removing 4
Lightning Strike in favor of 4
Unseal
And doing so weakened my aggro matchups but improved inmensally the control ones.
There are so many decks that rely on
Harsh Rule to survive and countering it just seals the game.
It also helps vs
Deathstrike Obliterate Channel the Tempest and even
Permafrost
Cirso, the Great Glutton is what makes this deck click. Most matches are won solely on
Dawnwalker back but
Cirso, the Great Glutton + Killer solves every other problem you can face.
But you are right.
