The title seems clickbait, BUT I did it (finally)
100-0
Yea, its nothing really to be proud of to many, but to me its sort of an Achievement, beating that nasty AI over and over again (and it only took me 1 year)
Enough self-praise, the deck:
It's basicly a classic Mono Time Deck focussing on Manadorks to play the big threats.
The Problem here was to find the right combinations to
a) Ramp fast
b) keep drawing Power
c) stabilizing the draw value
d) not getting power-screwed
e) Having enough answers
The Deck is drawing lots of power cards and thats exactly wwhat is wanted. The more power cards which are not in your deck anymore, the higher the chances you draw something useful to play, thus there are matches where you end up with 20+ power after 8 turns, ensuring that after that you will just draw "good" cards.
Edit:
Spoiler
The deck is really boring to play most of the time and only in rare occassions you win before turn 10 (I average at 9,65)
The reasons for selecting certain cards are pretty simple:
Worldbearer Behemoth,
Ixtol, Champion of Grodov,
Talir's Favored,
Waystone Gate and
Wrath of Caiphus are all cards that potentially draw/play more power cards from your deck, to thin out your actual card draw.
Xenan Initiation is there to make either Behemoth or Ixtol play a Sigil immediately (but can also be used on other units of course)
Wrath of Caiphus is not only a good way to fix power draw, it also provides you with a 7 card draw to not run out of gas. Downside: the opponent draws 7 cards too, Upside: this deck doesn't care.
The other card picks are kinda straight forward:
Temple Scribe - card draw + token
Sandstorm Titan - because OP
Mystic Ascendant - more card draw + excells pretty fast
Desert Alchemist - Plunder and deadly
Temple Standard - because there is enough power
Market:
Twilight Hunt - because Behemoth
Porcelain Mask - nothing worse then facing those itchy token decks and not having an overwhlem unit on board
Gnash, Desert Prince - more anti flier + recursion with
Grodov's Burden
Grodov's Burden - because it rocks
Grodov's Stranger - If you somehow happen to run out of cards (never happened to me though, might aswell switch it for something useful)
Starting Hand:
2-3 Power
1+ Manadork (cost 2 or less)
1+ 4+ cost Unit
Playstyle:
It is important to know what opponent you are up against, because you don't want to waste a Sandstorm Titan into a Scorpion Wasp. The deck can be played aggressively, but beware the AI trapping you.
Make sure to ramp in order! Don't play a Talir Favored on turn 2 if you have a Devotee in hand, play the Favored on Turn 3 instead maikng sure to have 4+ Power then.
If you played an Initiate otS on turn 1, play Merchant on turn 2 instead of a 2 drop and grap whats necessary rather than wasting 1 power.
Why is there no Prideleader?
Well, there aren't that many decks in Gauntlet that run relics (weapons), thus we can just fight those decks by ramping decently and letting them waste their relic weapons on our big guns.
The worst matchup you can get is:
None really, you should be capable of beating every Gauntlet deck there is, even if the AI is running rampant and playing the perfect draw, just make sure to ramp up correctly. Sometimes you might wanna stall, but thats just rare occasions.
If you managed to read until here, well then you seem to be interested
If you wanna give this deck a try, do so, but don't expect it to be played completely brainless. Decisions!
Have fun
P.S. it's gonna stay at 100-0 for now (because i'm proud and don't wanna ruin it) until the new Stuff arrives.
Whenever I make a Gauntlet deck, i start it with being even and do a few runs. The Problem i ran into, while trying to make it even, was that all the Big cards i wanted to use, weren't able to make the deck, to follow the gameplan of drawing tons of power cards.
Behemoth and Ixtol are just too valuable for the matchplan to not include them.
In the comments below several ppl have suggested very good changes for the deck thoug eg. Time tching for Wrath of Caiphus
I just didn't edit the deck, because I wanted it to stay the one that reached 100-0
the Porcelain mask ist just to get more overwhelm units, since i got stuck against the 1 drop AI's. Either one of the ones mentioned could be subbed for Prideleader, just to get some relic removal.
As for the other slot, psly4mne suggested Sewer Kudzu, which I'd also suggest to have more impact than G'Stranger.
In early testing, Alhed Ascending is super good. Sewer Kudzu in the market is better than expected, but probably too win-more.
I'd actually agree on using Time Etchings over Wrath since all we want is getting those sigils out of the way and to be honest, I haven't even thought about Etchings before, because I mostly skip the 1 cost cards
I'm also looking forward for the new Alhed and he will probably find a way into a diferent version of this deck
Edit: Played a few rounds. Sorry, but this deck bores me to tears. 13 turn average and I lost on boss all 3 times. Too slow for me. Still awesome that you went 100-0! Nice work.
Maybe I just state in the Information, that the deck isn't that "fast" and yes, it is boring to play. But I personally prefer to win and get bored, instead of losing and getting mad :)
