This deck started as TheMatsjo Fossil Frenzy! [Dinosaur Tribal] [Beatdown]. I made some changes mainly aiming to give myself more tools (Excavate, Talir's Intervention) something more to do in the early turns (Trail Maker instead of Amber Acolyte), and to try to get some Endra, Champion of Shavka hate going (Royal Decree). I also wanted to make the central combo (Evelina, Valley Searcher + Explorers) more reliable.

But it's still not as reliable as I'd like it to be. In particular it seems to be really slow to get rolling. Many, many times I'm sitting there in turns 1-4 with my thumb up my butt. So I'd like some advice how to fix that.

Hey Keith! I haven't been playing because ladder just got too insufferable, but for old time's sake I did want to pop in for some quick feedback! Keeping in mind that this just isn't thát competitive of a deck, I think you're suffering from a lack of focus in terms of what your build is trying to achieve. I think your inclusion of Trail Maker is probably an overall superior pick over Amber Acolyte, so you've got a nice Explorer core of Evelina, Trail Maker and Kimi going on. With a full set of Twilight Hunt you're on your way to decent early game, and I really think you should consider getting at least Savage Skybrood. Excavate, Talir's Intervention and Royal Decree just really don't work with the deck, and I think you should reconsider those picks. Twinning Ritual is weird, because it's a fitting card, but my experience has been that it slows the deck down too much (it's mostly a "pay 2 to give +1/+1 to two units in your hand", that really costs a lot of tempo. I'm not sold on Ilo & Mizo, but they're worth a shot. I'd imagine you're running into either problems getting going, or emptying out your hand too quickly. If you build the deck to be a bit more aggressive to thwart early tempo, I expect you'd get better results. Even a few Dilphex Stalkers could help if you're up against troublesome early drops (Amaran Shoveler, Sanctuary Priest, District Infantry, Initiate of the Sands, Pteriax Hatchling) a lot of the time.

I think you're probably right. Royal Decree was almost irresistible because of all the f%@% Endra decks, but now that that's been nerfed you're right, it's probably unnecessary. Twinning Ritual was really meant to just give myself more Evelinas, or more pumped up Echo critters. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Yeah Eternal's meta is horrible if you're not rocking full Legendaries play sets; the value is just too overwhelming to keep up with. With the changes to Avisaur Patriarch, I'd look at building the deck as aggressively as possible instead, because hitting fast and hard before they can collect actually gives us a chance, and Patriarch's Ultimate works perfectly with a swarm style anyway.
