I started out with a deck similar to this in January and it took me to Masters. This is a rework of Augustoaag's deck, and built for the post Dead Reckoning environment.
After Dead Reckoning dropped,
Azindel's Gift and
Rain of Frogs have been making the control rounds again. There seems to be a strong shift to Feln Control decks and Red/Blue Rush decks. After playing with variants of those decks, I got bored and tweaked this beauty. In the past few days, I have gone from Silver III to Diamond I with this deck. It has the control for the early game (Red/Blue Rush) and the toolbox answers for what you face out there.
Mulligan Conditions:
- Minimum 3 influence opening hand if possible. Influence variety is a must in this deck.
- Look for early influence acceleration / stabilization. i.e
Secret Pages or
Power Stone
- Look for board stabilization and hand protection. i.e.
Hailstorm or
Eilyn's Choice
Here are some card choice notes:
-
Eilyn's Favor,
Eilyn's Choice and
Cobalt Waystone are wrecking machines against Frog/Gift players
-
Eilyn's Choice is always better than
Vanquish when dealing with larger threats. i.e. Worldbearer Behemoth or
Predatory Carnosaur
-
Hailstorm is just plain better than Lightning Storm in this deck; you should easily have the 2J this requires when you need it and it kills many of the real problem cards. i.e.
Unseen Commando and
Whirling Duo
- Control people just fold when
Scourge of Frosthome hits the ground
I gave a good fight but when the temporal distortion is out - its usually hopeless :)
Any more tips for using the temporal ? its ofc crucial to use it ASAP right ?
