As usual when I start having fun with a deck DW comes along and snuffs it out. I feel the Elding change is fair, but Felrauk didn't hurt nobody. He already required 6 influence to play, and now he just feels bad. I want to get back into tinkering with this ASAP but these nerfs got me depressed.
Thinking about Feln Cauldron as a "free" discard enabler, but idk... I'll be back eventually to work on this.
Update hot takes edition:
In case anyone read the removed content, I said I did not agree with Whispering Wind, but after testing, I have to admit I was wrong. This cards are insanely powerful and overwhelming. I like the list I have here but the All In version I have been messing with is very fast and fun. The only thing is, this deck plays a little more carefully than the all in list, and I am not sure which (if either) is necessarily better. I like the Condemn market, but I also like fall to ruin in case your opponent stabilizes against you. I like KWTHE, but it is slower than we could be going. I am hoping to find a middle ground of brutality and sustainability, but we might just have to go fast and hope for the best. I still like Broken Contract.
With the REMOVAL of
Grenahen and ADDITION of
Elding of the Final Hour, This deck has gotten insanely strong. I have already seen a lot of complaints about
Elding of the Final Hour in general, but I feel like he really shines here. He is perfect for
Know When to Hold 'em as he doesn't need to be played, and of course, a great discard target for anything. Turn your little creatures into threats with him. It is easy to flood the board by turn 2 or 3. Play only at the expense of others.
So far, this deck wins on average, by turn 4, assuming the opponent doesn't surrender first. I only lose 1/5 games, which is insane.
Elding of the Final Hour is so powerful, being able to accidentally mill him with
Shoaldredger or
Darkwater Vines, sacrificing any of the slew of low drop x/1s for a 4/4 on turn 2 really puts your opponent in a pinch. Discarding Elding with
Back-Alley Delinquent for a 4/4 and
Sabotageing away their removal is insane value. I am thinking ahead about how to change the deck for the hate that is likely to come, in the form of a
Condemn market or
Transpose. It is more likely that they amp up the requirements for Elding to go off, but we will see.
UPDATE : The
Grenahen nerf doesn't really change anything, we are going to
Portent Reader for Void dumping, at least until something better comes along. Turns out, the Second Sight we get, is fairly strong, as a card draw, protect your hand, put Krull on Shoaldredger back on top or Broken Contract. There is value in every bite!
But yeah, when it opens well, this deck is amazing. It is likely the lack of the extra re-roll at the open of gauntlet matches is far worse than PvP rolls.
I also just made a change to the power base as I was getting shafted a lot, I traded out the Chairman's Contract for 3 Seat of Cunning and a Shadow Sigil, I put Zytrom in the market but the last slot could become anything else.
