This deck is the alternative to the popular dinosaur deck that includes explorers; this deck is all in on dinosaurs and best for ladder play. It gets to masters pretty quickly with aggressive play, once in masters has decent game against the format, I took this to top 20 earlier in the season.
The power is made for playing
Derry Cathain, Ripclaw Rider on 1, and then either a
Finned Herbasaur or a
Dinosaur Nest on 2. You are aggressively mull'ing for a nice selection of Finned, Dino nest, Avisaur, Derry - I mostly keep hands with any 2(or more) of these 4 cards.
- We are almost never using
Finned Herbasaur for it's contract because we can't slow down our output, but against combrei it stops
Equalize.
- You can feel very safe preemptively playing
Twilight Hunt on any dinosaur, and it is actually recommended in the mirror, some elysian players main board Tocas so it's important to get the +2/+2 and killer on board before tocas shuts you out.
-
Mandatory Retirement is main board, and equivocate is market - to fight opposing dino-nests, also we are so strong on the ground that we don't care about a 2/1, and would rather that than giving the opponent a random unit to play.
-
Sandspitter and Derry are some of the main ways you can push back a wipe or other problematic spells; while making your op's curve horrible
- We are often using
Mirror Image on Sandspitter, or dinos with killer - keep in mind if you intend to mirror worldbearer behemoth try to do so after it swings, as you will mirror the increase... I only recommend being this greedy when op's shields are down though.
-
Wump & Mizo is one of our weirdest cards, as strong as it is, it kind of makes our game plan feel really weird: the snowball non-bo's with Finned's spell reduction, and opponent using snowballs kills off our dinos from Dinosaur nest, we also don't retain preemptive Twilight Hunt casts when it transforms. This card is included mostly due to Mirror image and it often ends up as Market fodder.
- Don't be afraid to let opponents draw cards with Plunk, the contract often slows them down enough we take board control and beat them down before the card advantage matters.
Market
1.
Accelerated Evolution - mostly used to close out games if op mucks up the ground, can also break permafrost
2.
Dissociate - this is our silver bullet against board wipes, which are one of the only things this deck dies to - when playing against combrei ctrl, you really need to hold this for a wipe as tempting as it will be to blow it on their power find cards, don't.
3. Equiv - emergency unit removal.
4.
Tocas, Waystone Harvester - used in the mirror, and against bubble shield which is a difficult matchup due to their lifesteal with Hojan - we could outrace them; if not for this card.
5.
Serasaur Bull - Yeah, I know, we probably should be running the 1 cost relic removal, but, this card is way more fun, it can also be a surprise attacker for the win. Keep in mind EVERY TIME it attacks you can pop an attachment.
Notes:
- Serasaur Bull, Wump & mizo, and Accelerated Evolution are some of the 'changeable' cards if you find a pocket of the meta very heavy with certain types of decks.
