Updates
Jan 9:
Adjudicator's Gavel sucks. I added a
Burglarize in place of Devour.
Jan 8: Umbren Reaper is pretty underwhelming. I replaced it with
Bloodseeker.
----------
This deck is based off a few different decks (
Socrato Mill and
Socrato's Mill of Horrors V2 - (updated post Scream nerf)), with some key differences.
But first, some quick mill math:
T = # of Tome of Horrors attached
End of turn with 1
Socrato, Furyheart and 1
Kindo Shadowstep
7T + (T x 7T)
1 Tome: 7 + 7 = 14
2 Tomes: 14 + 28 = 42
3 Tomes: 21 + 63 = Dead
3 Tomes: 28 + 112 = Totally dead
End of turn with 2
Socrato, Furyheart and 1
Kindo Shadowstep
14T + (T x 14T)
1 Tome: 14 + 14 = 28
2 Tomes: 28 + 56 = Really dead
3 Tomes: 42 + 126 = Incredibly dead
4 Tomes: 56 + 224 = Unfathomably dead
Okay, let's talk about some differences...
MAIN DECK
No Memory Dredger
This card always felt awful to play. No immediate impact on the board and a high target for removal. Want to use
Haunting Scream on it? That's probably the worst target in the deck to scream.
Elvish Swindler
Between Swindler and the merchant, we now have 11 ways to get
Tome of Horrors.
Better power base
25 power was never enough for this deck, especially with Elvish Swindler and Umbren Reaper added. We're now at 28 power with one in the market if needed. I sacrificed 2
Xenan Lifespeakers and 1
Shadowlands Guide for more power.
MARKET
No Solitude
Yes, this is a mill deck, but Solitude is not the win condition. It's too expensive and your opponent should be dead before you have a chance to play it.
Devour
I'm not sure I love this, but I'm trying it.
This card directly counters
Permafrost. It also pushes a little damage from
Umbren Reaper if needed.
