Hello there, I been playing Hooru Control for about 95% of my 750+ hours I have on record and I can finally say that this setup feels the strongest I ever tested. I went from Gold III - Diamond II with a less robust version of this deck (no Justiciar). I broke to Masters with this setup. Pre-Dusk Road, we were Tier 3-4 if anything, but how meta is been going so far, I am confident this is Tier 1.

Meta this new season started with a lot of aggro, so get your Lighting Storm ready. I removed Tax Collector as core, his ultimate can be a game changer for slower matches like other controls but right now a lot of aggro is taking place.

Core Cards: Strategize, Harsh Rule, Throne Warden, Wisdom of the Elders, Valkyrie Justiciar very underrated card, Vanquish, Rolant's Intervention. Unseal, ]Sword of the Sky King

Sideboard:

I am evaluating Crest of Vengeance to scout which was kindly recommended by reddit user EternalAtWork, which can enable us to splash some Slay and other tech as well. I'll comeback after some more testing with my findings and go more about the sideboard rationale.

You might be thinking, dude, Valkyrie Justiciar dies to everything... Well, you are totally right. HOWEVER, worst case scenario they wasted a spell on her, best case scenario, you had on turn 5 Unseal or better yet, Rolant's Intervention ready to seal the game. Regardless, one of the biggest weakness of Hooru Control (besides aggro) was not having an early game where the enemy could just stockpile answers to your late game threats. Now, with Valkyrie Justiciar you can get to late game easier.

Situational Cards: Channel the Tempest - This card has lost a lot of its endgame potential due to easier ways of getting aegis from Cobalt Weystone which is quite often since many decks use primal as a second or third color. Moreover, with fast spells like Unseal, Backlash and Eilyn's Choice you are going to have a hard time resolving your Tempest.

Aggro - Swap x4 Valkyrie Justiciar for x4 Auric Sentry. Bring x4 Lightning Storm. Swap x2 Rolant's Intervention for x2 Auric Runehammer.



Anyway, enjoy laddering, I will keep updating/tweaking this deck and posting many other potential cards

also love playing Hooru control dont have eilyn yet so grinding to craft her, you have any replacements for Amilli, Feast Caller and Hammer of authority? btw congrats you reached masters:D i remember when you were silver and we were talking about reaching masters good job man, i had been playing memes so havent been able to climb but looks like its time xD. For Amilli there is no replacement for him but you could try going x1 Throne Warden. For Jotun Feast-Caller you can swap him for Staff of Stories but keep in mind you gonna lose a body.

Is this deck for ladder? Im on a 1-19 losing streak. I made masters last season but i just get destroyed by anything.
Valkyrie Justiciar just seems weak, only delays the inevitable. Tax Collector is a vanilla 2/3 does nothing. Im probably using them wrong but 1-19 is too much.

Edit: played some games with the new changes. With this version the valkiries are actually doing a better job. Jotun feast caller is a beast im thinking about including 3 or 4. There seems to be too many negate cards. I only played a few games tomorrow I will tell you more.

Negate cards are meta dependent, feel free to swap those as you see fit! I am glad is going better, I barely had time to play these past days, but I am already Gold II. Let me know if you have more questions/suggestions. Btw, Auric Sentry is a wall against aggro, you can tech for them if needed! Trust me, those cows can give a hard time to aggro decks :)
