This is my WIP Mill deck - so far at 55-60% in Silver 1. It's still a bit janky at the moment, but I think there's a lot of potential here. I'll continue to refine and post updates as I have them.
The game plan takes advantage of Eternal's two basic win conditions: a) reduce the opponent to 0 life, or mill the opponent to 0 library cards. The idea being that you ramp into a powerbase to afford these strategies, meanwhile the opponent may be able to combat/control vs one of these, but they can't guard from both.
Mill Plan: you essentially control until you have three of the included mill effects to go-off to win this way. 3
Solitude with 10 cards in their void (usually achieved through normal play and removal) is a 70-card mill (10 -> 20 -> 40). Or, you can mix-match to achieve 40-60 card Mills. An issue I've found so far is decks with strong ability to Aegis.
Beatdown Plan: make use of the removal package while ramping Mask of Torment . On the way there, we have card-draw, lifegain, and some notable creatures such as Marshal Ironthorn which ramps us while giving a board clear. While otherwise too expensive, since we're ramping anyway we can usually afford it. Another notable creature here is
Umbren Occluder, which forwards our Mill plan while giving us a powerful flash flier.
v1.1 Notes
The deck is now using a
Justice Sigil-based market. I just wasn't finding enough value in having it based in Shadow. Also, having Shush for shutting down clockwork decks and other situational cards is helpful. I've put two copies of
End of the Story into the main deck... just don't forget to look at your library.
Sword of the Sky King is great as it simultaneously keeps you alive while removing threats. It's now a harder choice whether to pull
Harsh Rule,
Stronghold's Visage, or
Sword of the Sky King. I believe the deck is now capable enough against the field to bring me into high Gold... and I'll have to see how to change it at that point.
Anyway, I hope you like the deck and give it a shot :)
