This is the FJS control deck featuring Defiance cards I used to reach Masters rank this season:
With Defiance the deck is way stronger than before, I'll explain some of my choices below.
MAIN DECK
-
Defiance - opted to run this instead of
Annihilate because it serves as
Torch 6 and 7 in the aggro matchup and with the new set being focused on multi color units, there aren't many viable targets you want to spend a 2 power card on
-
Display of Ambition - together with
Display of Instinct, this is the strongest display. The first mode is a bit meh, having more removal for big units is essential and the recursion mode breaks wins the control and midrange matchup
-
Red Canyon Smuggler - I opted for the Black Market because I feel the deck is very heavy on threats and the smuggler merchant allows me to run more flexible answers
MARKET
-
Bore - the main reason to run a Fire merchant
-
Urn of Choking Embers - honestly, this is one of the strongest uncommons in the set. If fetched early it just shuts down Skycrag and Scream variants. Thanks to this card, all copies of
Statuary Maiden could be moved to the main deck.
-
Auric Runehammer - it may seem a bit underwhelming at first, but this card saved my sorry ass over and over again, especially when you're expecting a
Rizahn, Greatbow Master or
Jotun Feast-Caller to be dropped on the following turn
-
End of the Story - the get out of jail card, never leave house without it
-
Icaria, Valkyrie Captain - the perfect finisher card for this deck because
Rizahn, Greatbow Master can't be accessed in the market. Even after the nerf, she packs a serious punch and is still the fastest way to close the game for control decks.
