Been having lots of fun with this deck, thanks for sharing. I'm unsure about varret, it's a nice combo with pelt but gets cleaned up so easily. I removed both, as well as the mask and added permafrost for all 3. It's uptempo almost always and unstable forming already permafrosted enemy units with mindlink out is a combo almost as old as eternal :) on the other hand, sometimes you miss units to play the spellshaper on. All in all I like the tempo based approach, I really wish that pelt and mind link had more synergy.
Have you experimented with the buffed regression? As a 2 cost curse it might be viable
Thanks! Yeah Varret has been underwhelming and I knew I was missing something obvious, will replace them with Permafrost. I'll give Regression a crack, will replace Crown in the market for now, and maybe Unraveling Fanatic if it works well.
Hey, I've been tinkering with the list and did some major changes. This is what I've come up with:
4 Permafrost (Set1 #193)
4 Seek Power (Set1 #408)
2 Substitute (Set4 #150)
4 Unstable Form (Set1 #189)
4 Equivocate (Set1003 #21)
4 Sodi's Spellshaper (Set7 #180)
4 Yorja, The Tale Keeper (Set7 #322)
4 False Prince (Set1 #356)
4 Great Valley Smuggler (Set5 #204)
4 Jennev Merchant (Set4 #169)
4 Sodi the Metamorph (Set7 #182)
4 Sandstorm Titan (Set1 #99)
2 Cirso, the Great Glutton (Set1 #362)
2 Magus of the Mist (Set1 #233)
3 Time Sigil (Set1 #63)
3 Amber Waystone (Set3 #51)
3 Primal Sigil (Set1 #187)
4 Cobalt Waystone (Set3 #151)
4 Crest of Wisdom (Set3 #261)
4 Elysian Banner (Set1 #421)
4 Elysian Insignia (Set7 #178)
--------------MARKET---------------
1 Vargo's Pelt (Set6 #144)
1 Regression (Set3 #184)
1 Mind Link (Set2 #119)
1 Mass Polymorph (Set6 #174)
1 Seat of Wisdom (Set0 #63)
I removed the relics from the main list and put em in the market, adding 4 smugglers, since the rest of the market were one ofs anyway. This gives up room to fill up with other needed cards. It's also a big help to keep up the tempo theme of the deck, since merchants often end up as 4/4s because Mind Link usually is the first pick. The deck still lacks card draw, and drawing multiple of the enabler relics often bricked me, so I didn't survive to see my value payout.
I cut the drake, when he's good he's awesome, but 4pp 4/3 that more often then not whiffed on synergy did get annoying. I put in False Prince, 3ptt 5/5 overwhelm with kind of a shitty aegis (with pelt the froggo is 3/3 and still carries the spellshaper to make it 4/4). It performed nice until now, people don't know this card anymore, lots of misplays.
Permafrost had to go up to 4
2 Substitute is a test, but at 1p it's so cheap and can take care of a fatty better than Unstable Form does.
I put in two Magus of the Mist for 2 cirso, because it's my favourite card in eternal :) jokes aside, it combos nicely with pelt and torch now being a slow spell is such a huuuge buff to it. Nothing felt worse than unstable forming your Magus only to get blown out by torch. It can also be a better defensive play against flyers than cirso.
In the market I cut crown (I did not once pick it, it hurts to say) mask because it was underwhelming because it set you up for 2 for 1s, and the flight, but I'm unsure about that one. I put in regression, which has proven to be a nice flexible answer while giving you value, a seat of wisdom since the faction reqs can be quite difficult with pppttt on t3, and a Mass Polymorph since this card + pelt and some critters can end the game very quickly if not on the spot. I wish it effected the enemy board as well, transform each unit into a unit costing one less would be the shit, or just cost one less power.
There you have it, it's been fun playing the deck. Have you come up with something?
I'm playing this jank in Diamond3 btw, still loosing more than winning but I think it's getting a little better. Hard to pilot this deck
