I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS GOOD. I DON'T EVEN HAVE ALL OF THE CARDS IN IT TO TEST IT. DO NOT CRAFT THIS IF YOU WANT TO WIN CONSISTENTLY, I JUST BUILT IT OFF OF A FUNNY IDEA.
So I was on a few Gauntlet runs with my
Poacher's Menagerie deck that can be found here:
Argenport Gauntlet Control (ft. Entirely Too Many Board Wipes), and pulled a
Vargo Redclaw out of the Menagerie. Much to my delight, I realized that Vargo would not die to the multitude of board wipes in that deck. This got me wondering: what if I built a deck around the two units that survive your own board wipes, those being Vargo and
Arcanum's True Heart. The idea of the deck is pretty simple; play one or multiple of those units and then spam the everloving crap out of board wipes. There are 12 complete board wipes and 7 partial board wipes in the list; it's a near-guarantee you'll have at least one.
The True-Sight Map is also here as a backup win condition, in case you can't find your units or they get silenced.
The rest of the deck other than the board wipes and wincons basically just tries to help control, fix your mana, or both.
Repel Darkness is particularly interesting, because it can also protect a otherwise-killable unit from a wipe as well as fix mana.
I guess a potential change that could be made is to just bite the bullet and add Shadow as well. The main benefits of this are the extra card on
The True-Sight Map and the ability to run
Nothing Remains,
Poacher's Menagerie and maybe even
House Alliance. There's also better direct removal with Shadow in it like
Banish and Send An Agent. The problem with this is, of course, you have to juggle all five colors with multiple influence required in pretty much every one. Have fun!
