Update: 7-1 in the last chance qualifier. Made me realize I haven't changed the list in a month, but it's still been fun to play.
An undisciplined (see: multiple 2- and 3-ofs) take on Spellcrag featuring
Jarrall Ascending. I am a fan of the
Transpose market allowing you to bring out
Wasteland Broker and shuffle other late-game cards into your deck, as well as the on-demand face aegis.
Went 10-5 in the Throne championship qualifier today (Sept. 19th), and of those it was 3-3 against Hooru Kira. So it has some play in those matchups, really depends on how your removal lines up against their protection. Jarrall can do work in that matchup if he gets in early.
Dazzle is another card that I'm digging in general, but isn't great in the Kira matchup due to most of their spells costing 1 and a fair number of their units having endurance. But a well-timed
Hailstorm or
Turn to Seed while their shields are down really gets there.
Kenna, Uncontained and
Poaching Drake both fit similar roles in that matchup, and if you can get a read on whether they're holding up
Bubble Shield or
Silverblade Intrusion you can pick the right card for the situation.
The deck has decent play against aggro, with some cheap early removal and of course
Hailstorm. And against decks like Xenan reanimator you really need to plan out your seed targets, but you have
Dazzle for
Grasping at Shadows or
Eremot's Machinations at least.
But the feeling of blasting someone down with a powered-up
Jarrall Ascending is exquisite, such a satisfying way to win. Another case for
Dazzle: you'll definitely want that against opposing
Turn to Seed decks, then Jarrall has free reign (until they cast another one).
End of October update: I feel the deck has a chance in most games, and in most cases you're the control deck. I could see a case for extra
Re-read or maybe
Jotun Hurler to change it up a bit. Maybe one
Backlash in place of a
Dazzle, and there are two upsides: popping face aegis to set up a better TTS or
Melt Down, a negate that you can recur with
Prodigious Sorcery. The reason I wouldn't replace them all is that the stun mode from Dazzle is very relevant, it can even pop the aegis on an endurance unit. So I'm still looking to tweak the list for the Last Chance qualifier, but I've been laddering with this list the entire month, so maybe not the best time to shake things up.
