NOTE: This deck currently lacks a good way to force tribute. (Killer is the closest it gets.)
This deck's purpose is to leverage
Porcelain Mask's Overwhelm with
Kenna, Shaman of the Scale's Killer effect. While that's sometimes just a case of "win more", it's also frequently what spells a win rather than a slugfest or a loss.
Teacher of Humility also interacts well with the Mask, and can give turn three
Disciplinary Weights where they otherwise wouldn't exist.
Surprisingly,
Derry Cathain, Ripclaw Rider is an excellent target for
End of Hostilities so long as you have used its ultimate first, and preferably applied
Twilight Hunt.
Crystalline Chalice is the first thing you want to apply, though, if available, so that you get both activations. (Be sure to reapply the ultimate again after replication.)
The deck has two good zero power targets for Chalice, and two other reasonable targets. Chalice is also the reason it feels ok having only nine small main deck spells, plus two in the Market, despite wanting to ultimate Derry.
Another note is that
Dissociate can bounce attachments as well as pseudo-negating spells. That can open up its own world of surprises in combat.
REQUIREMENTS:
You want two Time by turn two for Teacher, though that'll be apparent in the hand, usually. It's still best to plan to perhaps capitalize off of a turn two Teacher draw, so try to plan for dropping a undepleted second time source during turn two. Turn four you'd like to have two Primal for Chalice. Turn seven is three Primal, for Kenna and the
Quicksilver Mirror.
(
PSA: You can get a Mirror in the
Quicksilver Oddities - Theme Deck - Defiance for 2500 gold. Each of Defiance's theme decks has a legendary, so take a look at them if you didn't realize this.)
1: TP in hand
2: TT
4: PP
7: PPP
PONDERINGS:
Staff of Speed would be an interesting addition to this deck, as it has the potential to interact well with the intelligence Derry and the Mask provide, amplify the Teacher and
Dissociate cost increase effects, and negate
Permafrosts for surprise damage. I'm leaning towards removing one Kenna to add it, though that's not the greatest choice, since she isn't a Marketable card in this deck.
Pitfall Traps could be a method of enabling either discard tribute or pinging-your-own-
Trail Maker tribute, as your preference. Side effects may include removing early Time ramp units, irritating top heavy first strike units,
Wingbrewers,
Oni Ronin, or that last point on a site after a combat. Card Filtering could also occur in extreme circumstances.
