I wanted to share something I brewed up, and has gotten quite good results on ladder (~65% over 40ish games, I would guess), climbing 500 ranks. It's a prison deck, where you are trying to lock your opponent out of playing their key threats or disrupting their combo. The deck wants to go as long as possible, many mid/late-game turns are draw-go. You gain value when your opponent is drawing cards that are dead. It's great against
Howling Peak decks, which was why I built it in the first place. Turns out - it's pretty good against most other midrange and control decks also, and fair against most aggro.
Turns out it's cheap, too - maybe even budget-friendly. A lot of rares, but only 1 legendary.
The worst matchup is probably skycrag aggro, followed by anything that has reliable face aegis, followed by anything that has lots of units with aegis.
The nut draw is probably something like 3 power, 2x Justice/Primal,
Avigraft,
Citywide Ban, merchant,
Permafrost/
Hailstorm.
2 power hands are bad. 4 power hands are fine.
Permafrost - Could probably be
Defiance.
Backlash/
Unseal - to prevent any relic removal
Vanquish - Good, efficient removal.
Avigraft - The star of the deck. Hitting merchants/smugglers is extra good, since it may prevent relic removal forever.
Eilyn's Choice - 3 main, 1 market. This is a solid choice most of the time.
Hailstorm - 3 main, 1 market. Good against aggro.
Jennev Merchant/
Winchest Merchant - The only units - play only as needed, they are an alternate win condition.
Wisdom of the Elders - Built in 2-for-1.
Citywide Ban - Take out the most important threats before they are a problem.
Howling Peak,
Xo of the Endless Hoard, and weapons.
Rejection - Expensive, but it's why there's only two of them - but it goes with the theme of the deck.
Duelist's Blade - Win condition #2. Can usually take out a small unit and leave you with a poor-man's
Auric Runehammer, plus face Aegis.
Harsh Rule - 3 main, 1 market. Not much to say here.
Channel the Tempest - 3 main. You really don't want to have one in your opening draw. Win condition #4.
Vision of Austerity - 1 market. Situational - a good reason to save your merchant if you think you might need relic removal of your own.
Sword of the Sky King - 1 market. Win condition #3. Once you've locked down most of your opponent's important threats, this is a fine finisher.
Win condition #1 - concession.
1. Hooru Pacifier. You would have to drop your weapons for it
2. Svetya. this is actually best thing I've found to set up Rejection.
3. Can't think of name...The Unseen that takes away -1 damage from spells 2 drop
4. Can't think of name...The Unseen that keeps it and all your units from being silenced 2 drop
5. Valkyrie Enforcer...Tough flyers out there? Silence them THEN hit them with Avigraft.
6. Bring Down....With Avigraft, this is now a viable option. One guards the ground, the other the air. OR Rebuke so they'll live through the spell so you can avigraft.
7. Eilyn, Clan Mother ...1 in market as a closer.
