Reached Master in April 2021.
Typical Strangers gameplan. Try and get a
Triumphant Stranger on the field as soon as possible - preferably with a
Meditative Stranger there first to protect him. This deck in particular has a secondary focus on neutral (colorless) cards, to take advantage of
Tempting Offer and
Cast Iron Furnace. This synergizes very well, as
Varret, Hero-in-Training,
Forsworn Stranger, and
Traver's Farm are all core cards in a five-color Stranger deck. In fact, each spell cast off of
Traver's Farm counts as its own neutral card in the void for
Cast Iron Furnace.
Stranger effects are not considered Summon effects - therefore,
Grand Suppressor does not hinder our primary gameplan. The only exceptions are
Horus Traver and
Unfamiliar Interloper, so try and use them first to reach influence in all five factions.
House Alliance helps us to not be dependent on those Summon effects.
Out of the market, I usually opt for
Stand Together to protect my valuable Strangers, but
Determined Stranger can be a good pull to speed up the Mastery of
Varret, Hero-in-Training or get
Kodosh's Stranger past the first few attacks, when he is more vulnerable.
Be aware of your opponent's gameplan and be prepared to pull the appropriate Stranger from your deck using
Reunite from
Traver's Farm. While the strongest option is typically
Triumphant Stranger or
Meditative Stranger, the right call may be to pull, for example,
Grodov's Stranger versus a mill deck, or
Bereaved Stranger versus an aggro deck. The same goes for deciding on your Mastery upgrade for
Varret, Hero-in-Training - while I typically opt for the Aegis version for protection, the Lifesteal version may be the right choice against aggro, or the Overwhelm against chump blockers (or if you are looking to be aggressive and close the game early).
Don't forget that
Tireless Stranger can pop any stuns on your units. This can make for a nice surprise swing.
EDIT 05/03/2021: I realized I never put
Kodosh's Stranger into the deck, SMH. I swapped him in for
Determined Stranger, who went into the market in place of
Mask Maker. This gives us one less neutral card, but it also less susceptible to poor synergy with
Grand Suppressor.
