While watching Suny's stream, I was interested in how quick -- win or lose -- his games with the deck were so I adapted it for my runs. I won at least 5 wins in each of my four runs, so this deck is probably a solid choice if you're looking for a quick way to get your vouchers. I was pleasantly surprised with the deck's performance, since I prefer a slightly bigger version (fewer units dying to snowballs; less likely to get devastated by a Hailstorm) for ladder.
From Suny's version, I swapped
Auralian Restorationist for
Entrancer after two runs and
Wandering Wisp for the Smugglers and Xenan Initiation (because I didn't feel like shelling out for them). Entrancer was
very good in the event. Flying is nice to get the last few points of damage through, and the silence effect was very important to disrupt my opponents in the early game. A 1/1 also trades with most of the things a 2/1 trades with in this event. While Suny thought this deck didn't want to waste time smuggling, I found the smugglers unsurprisingly useful. I ran three because I only have three, but after my runs I think three is the right number. You don't want your hand to be clogged with them, but grabbing Disjuction to free a Student from a
Permafrost, or
Vanquish to take care of a Standstorm Titan were critical plays for me. Aside from those two cards, I feel that everything else in the market can be changed to suit your preferences.
If you're on a budget:
- Twilight Hunt can be swapped for
Predator's Instinct but you'll lose a little bit of reach without the nightfall
- Teacher can be swapped for something like
Oasis Seeker or preferably
Unwavering Exorcist. Getting Weights on your opponent is huge, but she dies so quick it usually won't happen anyway. Of course, this swap means your opponents will have more removal available for Students and Alessi.
- Unfortunately, there's no replacement for
Sword of Unity, which is as busted as it's always been. It's a very safe craft though.
