What the? This isn't Jaxxis!
I saw
Vara's Authority go online today and decided to click together a deck around it. I like it so far! It's a strictly better
Devastating Setback that also kills
Garden of Omens dead in the water! It's certainly no
Hailstorm, but what is in Expedition?
Cover From the Storm, I suppose, so now slower feln decks will have to decide between mana efficiency + aegis removal or that extra -1. Depends on the deck, it seems for me. I've seen people use
Storm Spiral to sweep away stealth on the board; this serves that purpose much better. Also, note that units that previously had aegis will still get the -2/-2.
At time of writing, Vara's Authority is not available on Eternalwarcry yet, so just replace the
Vara's Choice with it.
Explanation for some weirder choices:
-
Fluctuate Reality turns 3/3s into 1/1s, but it also makes an unstealthed
Subversion Slug that's just hanging around into something more useful.
-
Rain of Frogs is MUCH more useful when there's more ways to stop the opponent having face aegis, and all the frogs left bow to Vara ;P
-
Subversion Slug is there because it and
Jufi, Sprite Seer make great partners. No matter how many slugs come down, people always assume the NEXT one's a Jufi. Until they're wrong, of course. Plus, 6 attack helps out with our
D'Angolo Might.
-
Eilyn's Favor is there for mana consistency, not for the aegis. Authority
should blow it off, but I think there's a bug currently, and it doesn't matter either way since this deck has massive hands and no relics, so face aegis isn't something we're in desperate need of. We do, however, need need double primal for wisdom/
Evolving Olzial, and aegis is nice before authority to defend against early discard cards like
Exploit.
-Lastly,
Flight of Makkar is there because I couldn't afford another
Fall to Ruin. Turns out though, birds also respect
Vara's Authority.
