Fairly new to card games and I only PvP for quests. This is my first, somewhat successful gauntlet build. Hope you enjoy.
The Deck:
This deck contains cheap units that get stronger with more influence, and spells to hold the enemy at bay while you gain influence, and the advantage.
Rolant, Iron Tyrant is the star of the show, but I have won plenty of games without ever having him in play. Once you get
Rolant, Iron Tyrant in play the game is pretty much yours at that point. The AI does not like going up against deadly fliers, and very soon your entire screen will be full of them.
Pros:
- Lots of 2 cost units that get stronger with influence, or have great synergy with
Rolant, Iron Tyrant
-
Memory Dredger brings back your 2 cost units and even those you steal from the AI with
Defile
- Card draw. With
Argenport Cylix,
Evenhanded Golem, and
Petition it is very easy to cycle through your deck to get the cards you need, making power screw a rare occasion.
Cons:
- It's an even deck. You miss out on a lot of great odd cost cards, and the deck feels very clunky at times. If you are new to even decks, try to play your depleted power on your odd turns so that you are able to play your other cards on even turns.
- Some games are painfully slow. You will spend many turns just trying to deal with the enemy board until you have enough power to take command. You can see in my Match History that many games take over 10 turns.
- No real market. I honestly don't even consider this a con, but I know many of you will.
Card Choices:
-
Rolant, Iron Tyrant is a beast. He is hard to remove and fills your screen with
Silverblade Reaper.
-
Memory Dredger Being able to bring back these powerful 2 cost cards adds spice to this deck.
-
Acantha Ascending Get her in the air and remove the enemy fliers and she will fill your board with
Dark Elf. Get 8 shadow influence and laugh as the AI is forced to sacrifice units, also feeding
Rolant, Iron Tyrant
-
Icaria, Valkyrie Captain is here to help with potential power screw. At 6 justice influence, she becomes a solid choice for a 2 cost card.
-
Kira Ascending I almost didn't try her in this deck because you cannot take advantage of her card draw. That being said, once she reaches 6 justice influence she becomes a great 2 cost card. Get to 8 influence and she becomes completely insane. Paired with
Memory Dredger you can continuously buff your units and bring her back for more. Get two on the board and cackle maniacally as they buff each other to victory.
-
Vara, Vengeance-Seeker Pops those annoying aegis and is the only source of lifesteal for this deck. Don't be afraid to use her even when you know the AI will sacrifice a unit, as this makes
Rolant, Iron Tyrant very happy.
-
Evenhanded Golem Card draw to ensure you get the cards you need. Also a great chump blocker.
-
Magenta Wisp 2 cost unit that can be used for removal to fuel
Rolant, Iron Tyrant and be brought back over and over with
Memory Dredger
-
Ripknife Assassin great for stalling the AI's big units. With
Memory Dredger in play, feel free to attack for the warcry knowing you'll be able to bring this card back again and again.
-
Annihilate,
Defile, and
Just Desserts are your removal spells. If possible, try to use
Defile on 2 cost cards that you can later bring back with Memory Dredger. Or use it on those pesky revenge cards. Remember that
Just Desserts works for all damage the unit would cause, including entomb effects.
-
Petition to draw the power cards you need. For example,
Petition for
Shadow Symbol if you have
Acantha Ascending in play at 4 shadow influence to give her flying. If you don't need influence, use
Petition to grab
Argenport Cylix for card draw.
The Market
Lethrai Dead Drop and
Press the Advantage are the only cards you can potentially have in this Marketless deck.
Lethrai Dead Drop can be played surprisingly often due to
Acantha Ascending doing fly-by
Dark Elf drops.
Press the Advantage pretty much requires the stars to align in order to be played. You will have to steal 2 Oni from the AI with
Defile, and then bring them back with
Memory Dredger and somehow manage to hit the AI with them both. It's only ever happened twice, but since it CAN happen and we have no other market cards, it has a spot.
