Information

This is the deck that took me from Gold to Masters this month. It's kinda inspired by the old jito aggro decks from set 1. Obviously not playing Frontier Jito, but I think we finally have enough good 1-drops that this deck is now viable. Have a pretty good matchup across the board, (stonescar has been very favorable for me) but of course, like usual, skycrag can be pretty coinflippy, and this list even more so than usual.

You sacrifice the mid/late game power and flexibility of card like Merchants and Vadius, Clan Father to double down on your explosive aggressive power with 20 1-drops and Rally.

Basically your plan is to always have 2 power turn 1, and then 6 power turn 2. Your opponent is already so far on the back foot, if they don't have interaction in the first 2 turns (or Hailstorm on 3) they're pretty much dead already.

Card Choices:

Grenadin Drone, Oni Patrol, Oni Ronin, Pyroknight, Snowcrust Yeti: These are your bread and butter. They're what make the deck work. I wouldn't cut any of these unless you're playing a rallyless version. Oni Patrol is more a 2-drop that sometimes is played on turn 1, so that's why you really can't go any lower than 20, really want to make sure he's turned on.

Champion of Fury, Dusk Raider: Tried and true 2-drops of skycrag aggro, not much explanation required here

Impatient Pyromage: I think most versions of skycrag aggro have adopted this little guy. He is fantastic, and he's particularly good in this list because if you have no other plays on turn 2, you have 26 hits (assuming you played a 1-drop turn 1 to enable onslaught) or a 1/3rd chance to hit something playable on turn 2. He's helped me dig a little further to secure the win many times.

Permafrost, Torch: The most efficient interaction in the game (which make skycrag the best aggro deck).

Char: Cheap interaction, slightly worse torch. Don't forget you can Char/torch your own units post blocks to stop life gain from Vara. EDIT: no you can't, just torch.Should maybe be 2 char 4 ice bolt

Ice Bolt: Fantastic removal spell, kills all of the problem units that skycrag traditionally has trouble with.

Rally: The card that brings it all together. 3-power to burn your opponent for 6-10 damage, yes please. Also often lets your crappy little guys trade up while also getting face damage in.

And there you have it. If you like aggro, give it a try. And if you're a new player, I think this might just be the new best deck to craft for a new player to get easy wins without investing much shiftstone (only 11 rares, no legendaries). Enjoy!

Vanelloppe Eternal Version: 1.46.7
Hey bro, thenks you for your deck, i crafted it, im new in this game (i started 3 days ago), im Gold 1 and i loose often with this deck, i try to go platine, i know i do mistakes, probably in mulligan and with some bad plays i guess, could you give me advices to play your deck?
Vanelloppe Eternal Version: 1.46.7

Having trouble piloting this deck. I’ve used skycrag to climb the ladder before but for some reason I’m not having a whole lot a luck with this build. My play is to be as aggressive as possible and using removal on the first units played so I may have to fineness a little.
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.46.4
it is certainly not the only viable build. I started with another list, and it evolved based on my personal preferences.

Hi, any good replacements for Champion of fury?
Ninjacan Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.4
not really. if you're going to play skycrag aggro, he's the most mandatory rare to craft. You could play Rakano Outlaw or any other good cheap aggressive creature, but nothing else compare imo.

Thank you. Got from diamond 2 to masters in few hours. First time masters for me.
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.46.4
congrats!

I'm struggling to succeed with this deck after taking the time to build it. I just can't seem to win with it, even in gauntlet. Any advice as a new player? Should my starting hand be less than 2 power?

edit: power not mana

edit 2/update: holy cow, I'm on a 5 game win streak. I finally understand what I'm somewhat suppose to do, but I'm still a huge noob. It's definitely a quick game deck for sure!
Solace_x Eternal Version: 1.46.3
also, what do you mean by 6 power by turn 2? How is that even possible? I understand that you can get 2 influence from the multifaction power cards, but how do you go from 2 power turn 1 to 6 power turn 2?
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.46.4
in Magic it's Power/Toughness, so that's why I have "Power" engrained in my vocabulary. This style of deck is very simple, but playing it can be quite complicated. From sequencing plays, to when to trade off a unit vs when to use your removal, you need to play around your opponents cards (so be aware of what they could have), and also (super important) play to your outs. Know what you can draw and plan accordingly.

It takes some practice. It's a little harder to pilot than rakano aggro where or a time based aggro/mid strategy where you're just trying to build an overwhelming board are crushing your opponent. When you win with this deck, you often have the weaker board, but you forced through 25 points of damage and that's all that mattered. Good luck!

Thank you so much! That makes a lot of sense, and Im slowly understanding how it works. You're right, I drained my opponent to 1 life point while having like 2 units left while my opponent had these big monsters on the board.

I ended up winning, and it felt so satisfying and exciting. Thanks again for the reply, it helped a lot! I love the deck!
Mal2 Eternal Version: 1.46.4
He's talking about attack power on the units. He's suggesting you should try for three 2/1 bodies on the board, totaling 6 power, on turn two.
ReflectingMyDescent Eternal Version: 1.46.3
interesting coinflip deck. with the huge amount of AoE's (especially harsh rule) I don't think this deck is fast enough to succeed but I will give it a try.
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.46.3
harsh rule isn't too much of a worry, it's really hailstorm that's backbreaking.
ReflectingMyDescent Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.3
went something like 10 wins 5 losses in casual. the deck is a blast to play if you have a good starting hand and the enemy is slow. But more than often enough you're stuck with too much power or not enough 1 drops (even after several muligans) and the game is basically over then.
A pretty fun deck for fast games nonetheless.
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.46.3
oh ya, classic aggro problem is flood. It could be correct to play a couple flame blasts
Feniks Eternal Version: 1.46.3
Nice deck !))
