The new campaign gave reactive control decks some strong tools.
Honor of Claws filters through your deck while creating card advantage. It effectively draws you three cards in mid to late game.
Stormhalt Knife gains you five life in a pinch without losing tempo, it also enables you to play a sweeper and then kill an opposing relic weapon for free. It’s much better than
Sword of the Sky King since you’ll have to tank a ton of damage while ramping in the early game.
Playing 4
Equivocates and 2
Desert Marshals to counter FJP, which turns out to be one of the best matchups for temporal. As long as you got some ways to deal with
Vargo Redclaw, they’re actually pretty light on threats. Equivocate can also blow out
Korovyat Palace which is very prevalent at the moment.
Running 2
Moondials for some flood protection. and it’s an answer to
Auric Runehammer. It’s doing well against grindy three color mid-range decks for me.
Possible adjustments: If you’re in an aggro meta, consider switching in
Defiance, more
Stormhalt Knifes and the 4th
Hailstorm over some card draw spells. If you find yourself in a lot of control mirror, bring in
Eilyn's Choice and possibly
Sword of the Sky King. If you’re against a lot of aegis units/ vargos, try out
Unstable Form.
Although it’s not the best deck in the format, I had a lot of fun and made master with this deck. Hope you’ll enjoy it too.
I'm glad to see other people are enjoying Temporal since a lot of people seem to give it shade. It's a lot of fun to play and forces a lot of planning and assessing threat priority.
I can kinda relate to the hate towards temporal ‘caus once it goes off, it’s really unfun to play against. Personally I prefer to play JPS unitless which focuses more on messing with opponent’s game plan and plays a more interactive fair game. But as it stands, doing more busted stuff than the opponent is the only winning strategy.
