Deck is pretty straight forward,
Azindel, Revealed gave added payoff to xenan in the form of a must answer card that leaves incredibly obnoxious blockers or stall breakers for midrange decks to deal with, while
Vara, Vengeance-Seeker is just another incredibly strong 4 drop to go alongside SST,
Tome of Repetition lets us skip from 6 to 8 power for obelisk or azindel and works to trigger interrogator.
The aggro matchup is dictated by drawing
Ayan, the Abductor, in which case it is HEAVILY in the deck's favour, while this seems to wreck other midrange decks, all in all, the counter to this deck is good old harsh rule as expected.
All in all the only fundamental parts of the deck are the incredibly strong 4 drops and top end in Azindel.
Some considerations:
Mystic Ascendant: Way greedier 6 drop than
Champion of Mystery, but will provide you with even more late game potential and has the obvious synergy with both worldbearer and tome.
Predatory Carnosaur: Probably better than Champion of Mystery in a scenario where Icaria decks run rampant (although the deck doesn't usually struggle with those, as so many of your units with xenan initiation deal with her and Azindel himself can turn her warcries against her. I have also been thinking about altogether removing the card from the market, as I only remember pulling it maybe once in more than 40 games.
Lunar Magus: Can replace Dawnwalker if aggro becomes big, Dawnwalker at the moment has not been very impressive, and the current meta is where it SHOULD be shining, as there is so little silence going around.
Teacher of Humility: Same as Magus, does better than Ripknife against aggro and likely makes people concede earlier than they should if she connects early, but makes you miss on the very important warcry for your interrogators and severely weakens the midrange matchup.
And last but not least: Removal in general
Banish,
Annihilate,
Scorpion Wasp and
Suffocate all have their niches in this deck. I won't consider the 4 cost removal cards as good here because while we do run vara to mess with those pesky aegis units and could definitely ICB them, I feel that they cost too much to help us get back on board before the opponent does.
Furthermore I find this deck really sad due to the fact that Vara's shiny new ability finally removes aegis and yet it doesn't have a single removal spell that takes advantage of that.
In addition, the deck seems incredibly weak to Permafrost because it has no way to remove curses or even to silence or kill your own creatures (and bring them back again). If it hits a Dawnwalker or Behemoth, that card is useless for the rest of the game. A 1 mana spell that shuts down your entire strategy is no bueno.
