Icaria, the Liberator was nerfed? I'm sorry, I couldn't tell. She's too bust winning games for me!
In all seriousness, this is the deck that I took to Master this season and have been playing ever since. The real reason this deck can exist is
Cauldron Cookbook, because now FJS has enough card advantage to reliably grind long games while still answering threats one for one.
Wanted Poster and Cookbook allow us to go positive on card advantage, while we have
Quarry and
Cull the Deck to filter for specific cards. The rest of the deck is basically a pile of removal with a few finishers in Icaria and
Rizahn, Greatbow Master. The usual way to win games is to trade one for one with spot removal, or even more with
Harsh Rule, and then win the game with whatever is left over. Often times that is Icaria or [/card]Auric Runehammer[/card].
This version of the deck is unique in that it only plays 10 units. The reason I'm not playing Vara is because she is tough on the influence and she is weaker against Permafrost and Annihilate than anything else in the deck. She doesn't help our gameplan of winning via card advantage.
The same can kind of be said of Caiphus. I think he's a very powerful card, but the way this deck wants games to play out don't involve him. In other variations of FJS he can be good, just not here.
I prefer using
Ixtun Merchant in this deck because
Bore is one of the best Market cards in the current meta, and Cookbook can be very important to go find.
The rising popularity of Haunted Highway is a concern for this deck. The matchup has played out close to 60-40 in favor of Highway, which is surprisingly fine. But that deck is designed to prey on decks exactly like this, we don't quite have access to the right fast spells in this faction combination.
Sabotage is a potential way to help that matchup but I haven't tried it yet.
Anyway, happy removing and good luck!
