Hey, this deck is really fun to play and pretty powerful, thanks for sharing it. By the way, you mentioned changes that you made since you posted it, is it possible to have an updated list?
Hi, your list is great fun and the lines you can have between Reweave and Imperial Loyalist make for a very versatile deck.
Have you considered Siraf over either Temple Scribe or Teacher as a more impactful card? Sometimes I get to a point where I have plenty of cards and a decent board but I cant break through.
Could Minotaur Platemaker also be a consideration as it Renowns for Golems and is a decent powersink
If your opponents board gets developed that far, then you are usually needing to use a combination any of your Weapons and/or Killer to take out what is needed and break through.
I have looked at Siraf, Grand Strategist more than once, but it would be another card that doesn’t synergize with anything that this deck is trying to do. It doesn’t draw me cards, it doesn’t ramp me, if I reweave for it then I have to wait until it emerges to use its twist ability, it’s not a target to use Killer or Safe Return on.. so it just doesn’t belong here. Both Temple Scribe and Teacher have places in this deck because they both can draw me a card, both can be used to trade with opposing SS units (which is half the meta), etc.
In another comment or two I have said that I wanted to try Platemaker in this deck, but one of my biggest turn offs to that card is that it’s a terrible reweave target for the same reason as Siraf: You can’t use its twist ability until it emerges. As of right now, every Unit choice I have made is a good reweave target, and combos well with what this deck is trying to do. Even Teacher isn’t a bad early game Reweave target because you’re almost guaranteed to get a weights on them after the Teacher emerges. I am in no way saying to not use Platemaker, but at the present time, I am content with what units this deck has and have never ran into an issue triggering Renown (since you draw so many cards). The great thing is that Meta’s are constantly changing and evolving, so Platemaker may be a much much better card choice over another unit in this deck as it evolves.
Great fun, got me from D2 to masters! Can confirm 2x Thrashing Dune Worm fits in this deck perfectly.
While they aren't too common at the moment, I think this deck does struggle against deadly units, especially small deadly blockers like amaran stinger's scorpions or ripknife assassin - feels like the only way to deal with them is to trade unfavorably or hope you can stick a sword of unity on icaria and fly over.
A desert marshal to reweave into might help that, but I haven't tried it.
I personally haven’t had any trouble with deadly units. Cards that have deadly in this meta, such as Ripknife Assassain, are played out of very aggressive decks.. so if they aren’t attacking with their units, then you’re winning. With the amount of Killer units this deck is able to create, especially after the addition of the Wurms, throwing your Temple Scribe’s or Evenhanded Golem’s at the deadly units to clear a path for your assault is what I tend to do.
As I said in another comment, adding 1x Desert Marshal is a good idea so you have a Silence in your Reweave Utility Belt, but I haven’t fit it in as of yet. It’s very hard to free up slots in this deck, but taking out 1x Scribe or 1x Teacher is probably the best place for it.
This is probably a terrible, very bad idea... but something in me just wants to ruin this nice power base and play Torgovs Trading Post so I can reweave loyalist for a 6/6 aegis endurance unit + Whatever you reweave for. And then probably jam Palace in it too. Then get influence screwed every single game.
I got to live my dream of reweave loyalist for dune wurm and a 7/7 aegis endurance killer 2 drop from trading post. I may now retire this pile and go back to playing your good version haha.
Had been playing around with similar ideas, props on showing this ideas has competitive legs, might give it another go with the full set of safe returns. 2 cards I've found worthwhile are Thrashing Dune Wurm and Sheriff Marley. Also, surprised by no awakened student or desert marshal?
I’ve had a lot more time to test since the tournament, and I have since cut the 3x Mystic Ascendant and replaced them with a 4th Sword of Unity and 2x Thrashing Dune Wurm. The Dune Wurm is an absolute *ALL STAR* in this deck, and I am thinking of freeing up a slot for a 3rd copy because it has been great in every matchup so far, and I haven’t lost to a Rakano deck since it’s addition.
I only had 48hr to prepare for the Invitational, so I put this together and tested as much as I could. The Wurm was one of those cards I wanted to, but didn’t have a chance to test.
A previous iteration of this deck did have Desert Marshal, but I felt that it wasn’t doing enough. It doesn’t combo with anything that this deck is trying to do, and I just felt that it made it play clunky. I will eventually find 1 spot for it or for a Sheriff Marley just to add the Silence to my Reweave utility belt.
So if you reweave for a dune wurm can you activate the amplify? Aka if you have 4 power up, reweave a loyalist, get a 2-drop and a shifted wurm, amplify the wurm and give the 2 drop killer?
You absolutely can amplify the Thrashing Dune Wurm that comes into play shifted from the Reweave! And yes, you can give the 2-drop you put into play from the Renown trigger Killer since the Renown resolves before the Reweave.
You cannot use the amplify to give Killer to itself or any other shifted unit though.
Oh, as for Awakened Student, it is another card that doesn’t help the deck draw or ramp, and felt kinda clunky to play as well. It can get out of hand if your opponent ignores it, sure.. but it’s just a lightning rod. I would rather play Icaria, Valkyrie Captain as a lightning rod instead since it helps me ramp + block/attack through the air unit I get my Sandstorm Titan’s online.
Agree on the student having tested with it, was just unexciting and an awful top deck mid/late game. I've been liking platemaker in my current build, great for triggering renown and disgusting with Sword of Unity.
I like your deck a lot, I just got to Master with it and it felt really smooth. It's quite fun to play with a lot of draws and strong plays like Hojan + Xenan Initiation <3
Thanks! And I’m glad to hear about your success with it! I find it very fun finding the right combo line (since there is so many ways to combo cards together in this deck) to counter the line my opponent takes, and out valuing my opponent on card drawing feels great too.
Thanks! I almost saved this for the next big tournament/ETS after worlds, but got a spot in the Invitational 48hr before the deck list deadline and it was built and running pretty solid by then.
