This is a really fun Hooru good stuffs deck which has most of the cards you want to be playing if you are playing Hooru. As of right now when writing this I have made it to Diamond 1 with this deck.
Control Base:
Permafrost - Best way to deal with pesky units is to stop them in their tracks. Usually you will have a target so this is a great pseudo removal card.
Hailstorm - Hail > Storm for this deck. I originally started off using
Lightning Storm but I found myself eating my own words and realizing that Hailstorm is actually just better considering the meta now. I still used lightning storm a lot, there just ended up being many situations where I wish I had hailstorm instead so I went and made the switch and found myself happier. I run this at 3 because with 4 I always felt that I had it in my hand too often when I didn't need it and I just used the 4th slot to fit in 3
Finest Hour's.
Vanquish - Basic removal, big fatties are seeing lots of play with tier 1 at AP midrange, Feln Control, and Praxis
Eilyn's Choice - Utility cards are my favorite and this one usually sees it's play as a fast vanquish, though can be useful for other things as well.
Control Monsties:
Hooru Pacifier - Fairly well stat-ed for a 3 drop and stops all weapons which can be clutch in certain matchups and useless in others. Regardless, a good card to play and often times this card will soak up removal before your later threats which is good.
Valkyrie Enforcer - Auto-include. Great card. Silence with a body is hard to beat.
Svetya, Orene of Kosul - I really like this card a lot and am super excited about it. It really lends to more control with this deck and can shut down a lot of plays that your opponent might make. If I see that an opponent might try to chump block and then use something like
Finest Hour or
Rally then this is good to play to stop that. Opponent just play dawnwalker and your sure they'll likely play
Xenan Initiation next turn? Drop Svetya and you have a turn of leeway. This kind of situation can pop up in a lot of scenarios as almost all decks rely on spells in some shape or form. I have yet to see a spell-less deck yet so it will always hurt someone in some way. It can really turn tempo in your favor.
Daraka, Queensguard - A really good 6 drop imo, it is like a beefy ice sprite with overwhelm which is great. This card can really help you push through the hard defenders as well while also providing a huge threat. I haven't had the combo happen yet but Daraka -> Eilyn is a fairly nice combo if you get it.
Eilyn, Clan Mother - This card is truly an amazing 7 drop. Great stats, great skill, and her ultimate is amazing on top of that. Very hard not to love this card.
The Rest:
Finest Hour - This is an addition to the latest version of this deck, I found my monsters being killed my creatures with killer or ambush creatures and even found myself sometimes just wanting that nice combat trick of attacking in to a monster, getting them to block, then using finest hour to kill it. Since the addition of the card I have been winning even more matchups so I am definitely happy about this card now.
Eilyn's Favor - Face aegis and power draw = ++
Kothon, the Far-Watcher - simply Hooru good stuff here, great 2 drop and with a good ultimate for later on
Protect - Use this to keep your units alive, yourself from being hit by effects, but my favorite combat trick as I'm sure many know is having
Shelterwing Rider with no Aegis and playing protect to block an attacker that didn't expect it.
Strategize - Cause drawing is fun
Shelterwing Rider - Another Hooru goodstuff card, nice attack for it's cost, has aegis, has flying = ++
Jotun Feast-Caller - Cause drawing is fun and this card can get insane if left unchecked. Also this card will often soak up a lot of removal that might otherwise kill your other units which is a big plus.
Removed:
Celestial Omen - Wish I could've kept this card, though I found myself not wanting it when I had it and wanting it when I didn't have it. I wish I had the room still for it but with the new changes I just don't have the room. If I did, it comes in handy to pick a card of your choice. A little high costed in my opinion but a great card otherwise. I often pull Eilyn with this card.
