The ShiftstonedEternal Power Calculator is a deck-building tool that visualizes your odds of drawing enough Influence and Power based specifically on the cards found in your deck.
Would you mind explaining the Market? It seems odd to me to only have expensive cards in a market (no way to pull a card out and play it in the same turn). For example, when I tried this version, I never pulled out either Cloud of Ash or Obliterate. Given your winrate, I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong.
So rally is definitely the most common pull, it just puts so much pressure on the AI if it stumbles at all or has a unit light draw. It lets you trade up units and get them within range of your charge and other units. Cloud of Ash is there for board stalls. Often times you can get the AI to a low health, but they gum up the board with larger units giving you little attacks and its hard to finish it off. Against the grenadins deck, it is often correct to just stall for a while rather than trade with their tokens and pull Cloud and then just smash. Firemaw is there so you can curve into a four drop from merchant. The last two are relatively low frequency pulls. Obliterate is a finisher for when you end of going to the late game, sometimes that burn helps. You're almost never grabbing Shugo Standard as a power, except if you need a turn with extra power to say, play a unit plus spell, or an extra unit for tempo. Most often you're getting it as a spell for use with the quickdraw units to punch through large units, or push damage. That card is my least frequent pull. Given our low curve, Shugo Standard is the only power I would consider for the market, but feel free to experiment. It's hard to get a large sample size with the market draws to know for sure. Ornate Katana could be a possibility as it's a decent cheap weapon pull that also replaces itself. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the detailed ideas. I've been experimenting with a variety of choices, including even things like Torch (so that I can play it on the same turn as the merchant if need be). But I'll give the Cloud another shot--I may just not be setting up the sequencing correctly.
Hrmm vadius is pretty nice. For his aegis and first strike really work well with the weapons. It would have to at least be a three cost or less first striker. He’s tough to replace but can try subbing something. Maybe that oni that is a 1-1 for two that gets an attack every time. Maybe there is more.
It’s still a relatively small sample size. I’m going to keep updating so people will know how the deck works. More than a few games came down to the wire where the wrong decision would have cost me. Overall I like it though. I just think having a user with their stats shown will help people decide if they want to play it or invest the shift.
Bought the deck. It played well the first run (Lost to boss with the +3 Power he dropped a +2 +2 draw a card empower guy pretty fast will update more as I use it) Rd 2 lost to last boss. Shifting alliances. Rd three beat the +3 power boss (Barely rally merchant saved the day) 3 gauntlets making it to last stage each time should be a worthy investment moving forward. Thanks for sharing. If you’d like I can continue to update my runs in another comment.
Haha, I would have sworn you gold stash would have been way above mine.
Thanks again for picking up the gauntlet teching torch, since kcbandit has been away. If it wasnt for your brews I'd still be playing ss queen, which just doesn't perform like it used to.
Also a quick question, if you have the time. Do you have any changes for your feln lifesteal deck since FoA released, or a new feln brew?
I would have more gold but I realized I'm making 6k ish per day in gauntlet and wouldn't have time to play more than 1 draft/day so I just ripped open 200 packs or so.
Yeah, SS Queen isn't great right now. Skycrag has greatly outperformed it. I've tried both merchants in stonescar (thinking plague would help), nothing is working right now. The deck is OK but if I'm playing aggro it's to crank out gold/hr so that means skycrag. I'll be working on a more aggressive Hooru Fliers build but there are a number of good ones already in the community, and also work on a Combrei Aggro.
Feln Lifesteal I'm still working on, I'm really picky with that deck to get it just right as it was my best deck last set. Right now it's just a little too "durdley" but I can't decide whether to cut some Cull the Deck or Strategize. They're both great but eight is probably too much. So its 4/2 or 3/3 and 3/3 is probably wrong. If I cut two, I'm probably going to +1 Power. The other consideration is Zelia, the Vain. I'm going to try adding her, and move Black-Sky Harbinger to the market. Right now I recently added two copies of Deadly Confrontation which have been solid. Temple Shihan has replaced Midnight Gale and has performed great. Whether it's making a two drop die, forcing a Scorpion Wasp to attack, clear any blocker the curse is good and Flying Rindras and Tyrants are pretty great. This is what I'm playing, but like I said there are a bunch of changes to try:
And this is my Combrei Mid list, I actually just updated a few cards last night and it feels like my highest winrate deck, and fairly reasonable speed so I thought I'd share it:
Also, kcbandit is back! I've been talking with him quite a bit and he's working on his own lists getting familiar/testing the new FOA cards and Merchant tinkering etc. So soon enough our community will probably have nearly optimized lists to play and crush gauntlet. Until DWD updates the decks again and we have to tweak the lists, but that keeps the mode fresh.
Let me know how these decks go for you. This comment ended up being way longer than I thought it'd be haha.
If you haven't seen our new sub, check out AI Eternal which is dedicated to gauntlet and forge discussion.
I cut out the market and 2 of the geomar for siraf, because I wasnt ready to full commit, with the price of the deck, and geomar seems very niche.
Still went 7-0 3 times out of the 4 games I played, the loss was to the double damage gauntlet boss with a god draw..
4x Geomar is definitely necessary, when ever I had 2 geomar on the field at once it was just devastating. Where as when I had siraf out it was just underwhelming.
I love how hard this deck can hit for in one turn. Those damn geomar can get massive
I've tried zelia in the feln deck when I first ran the feln deck, due to not having enough rindras. She performed surprisingly well, and just took over when I was able to bond her with assassin. I definitely think she could find a home in that deck.
And I'll give that combrie list a spin right now, and report back.
7-0 = 6
6-1 = 4
5-1 = 3
4-1 = 4
3-1 = 3
2-1 = 1
1-1 = 4
0-1 = 4
I had already went 2 back to back 7-0's with a queen, and plate agro deck.
So, I figured the AI would stomp me out on my first run with this skycrag revamp... however
I breezed through 7 wins with a 5.3 average-turn rate.
Also, I'm Looking forward to reading your upcoming articles on your new site!
Thanks for all the help!
Ps thanks for the gold
