So this is an exploit I've had kicking around for a while, and while I've been hesitant to share anything I make because I'm not very confident in my skills as a deckbuilder, one of my friends talked me into it. Basically this deck revolves around getting
Bad News into your void, and then getting
Cabal Spymaster and
West-Wind Herald onto the field, allowing you to attack infinite times in one turn as long as
West-Wind Herald deals face damage.
Originally, I had a version that did run several fire cards, as there are some cards (
Calderan Gunsmith was what originally sold me, although it never made it into the deck as this was ages ago, before
Bad News was even released) in that faction that seem tailor-made for an infiltrate deck, but I found the three-colour version to be unreliable. I then realized that there are plenty of ways to discard specific cards from your hand, this deck uses
Blind Storyteller and
Herald's Song, and that I didn't even need to play
Bad News, as long as it somehow ends up in my void. That got me thinking about other expensive/unusable for Feln spells that would be fun to play repeatedly. I've included two
Channel the Tempests and one Decimate, the Tempests being an excellent way to deal damage to specific problem units or to face as well as refilling my hand, and Decimate being a really good death card.
I like the combo of
Blind Storyteller and
Herald's Song for this deck over other methods of drawing and discarding. As
Herald's Song is a spell, if you really need to
West-Wind Herald can play it from your void. The echo feature also means if I don't draw any large spells I can discard, I can simply discard the second copy of it that I draw.
Blind Storyteller provides me with a steadier source of discards, as well as a blocker I can sacrifice as a last-ditch resort if i just need one more turn to pull off the combo. If I get both, then
Herald's Song provides two redundant cards I can freely discard to draw more cards with
Blind Storyteller. If I get multiple
Blind Storytellers, then I may consider discarding one as well, as I really don't need more than one on the field.
While I have
Lethrai Ranger as an aggressive infiltrate card, the spells are more control-based, as I need a clear airspace for
West-Wind Herald to get through. Failing that, I have
Ghostform, one of my favourite infiltrate staples, and
Icebow, which not only can boost the Herald's stats, but can also allow it to trigger its ability twice in one turn.
Jarrall Iceheart was a last-minute inclusion, as I realized that I had no large units, meaning that if
Lethrai Ranger can't get off several attacks with
Cabal Spymaster on the field, and if I don't draw enough spells, I was vulnerable. Jarral solves both problems, by refilling my hand with spells, as well as clearing the opponent's side of the field if I draw a sufficiently large spell, which is very possible given cards like Decimate and
Channel the Tempest. I've found it very handy whenever I've played it.
Extract is in there as a handy early game card. Many early fliers are weak enough to fall to it, and it provides me lifegain as well as letting me scout every time I cast it, which means I can sort through my deck to find the next card to play. I can also repeatedly cast it with
West-Wind Herald, which I find extremely useful due to the multiple benefits of the card. It's a very versatile spell that lends itself to a lot of situations.
Does anyone have any advice for improving it or any powerful spells to include? Technically you could run the deck on about 5 mana, with at least one shadow influence and two primal influence, as this is all you need to play
West-Wind Herald, and all my discard options are much cheaper than that. Originally I had more anti-unit cards, but I noticed that I was always running out of things to play, so I added a few draw spells, two of each of
Wisdom of the Elders and
Scheme, and that seems to have sorted things. Normally in a control deck I would add
Hailstorm but that also hits
West-Wind Herald, which is the core element of the deck. I'd really appreciate feedback, tips, or advice.
