I just hopped back into Eternal around a week ago after not playing since before Whispers of the Throne came out. After assessing what's new, I built this deck. It's been fun and it got me to Masters fast (although I have been playing a ton in the past few days).
The deck's biggest weaknesses are go-wide aggro decks, because there are no sweepers in mono-fire, and decks with a lot of aegis, especially player aegis. Many games end with a
Flash Fire or
Flame Blast for 10+ to the dome, so being hamstrung on that is annoying. Hence the
Factory Quota in the market, which works well as long it's not removed. There's also
Kaleb's Favor, of course.
Against most of the midrange soup in the meta, this deck works quite well, generating card advantage with Mercenary Veteran,
Xo of the Endless Hoard, the market cards (which usually swap out a grenadin token or
Warhelm), and so on, as well as the straight up draw spells of
Volatility and
Cauldron Cookbook. The removal works well against lower-curve decks and big Time units alike. You have plenty of relic hate with
Oni Inciter,
Bullseye, and
Bore, which is very necessary right now.
This is a very high-curve midrange deck, verging on control. You want to make sure you have 3+ power in your opening hand, although there are a lot of cards that fetch fire sigils to help there, plus Xo who can always be an emergency power source (though, it's better to play him as a unit if you're able). If you don't attack within the first 4-5 turns, that's often totally fine because you're building card advantage and dealing with enemy threats. However, turn 3
Prism Golem into turn 4
Veteran Mercenary, maybe with a turn 2
Oni Inciter or
Clodagh Ascending in the mix, is a strong start that can easily overpower some opponents, backed by cheap disruption like
Torch. Expect not to be on the beatdown as much as you are on the control, but take the opportunity when it arises.
If you're looking for some non-aggro Fire goodness, give this deck a try. The surprise factor is very useful (I've had people silence my
Prism Golem a fair number of times, lmao) and the deck is pretty resilient.
