Information

This is a slightly updated version of my WWH deck. This list only needs FPPS influence, and it doesn't need fire influence early on.

@Almost, not sure if you have moved on from this deck, but your interview with MantidMan motivated me to finally ask about the changes I had made to the deck.

+3 Ixtun merchant
+4 Herald's Song

Market
+1 Iceberg scattershot
+1 Kindle

-minus a bunch of stuff I can't remember right now.,

I added the merchants first then felt like I kept running out of cards to trade in to the market, so I added Herald's Song to give me more filtering and more cards to get rid of. I feel like it really helped me with the consistency of the deck. Just wondering what your thoughts are and if you tried something like that.

I did try double-merchant at one point, and found that the number of cards in hand was very limiting, but echo cards partially help with that. I like Jotun Hurler as a pseudo-echo card. Double-merchant lets you find combo pieces reliably, but I found that I liked playing for value and card advantage instead of rushing the combo. It can also be awkward if you draw multiple ixtun merchants + iceberg scattershot, but I guess you can use a Jennev merchant to pitch an extra ixtun.

Thanks for the reply. I found with kindle and kaleb in the market as long as you had the cards to exchange it allowed you to get the combo online faster and with more chances to get up counter spell protection, on the other hand, I haven't won any ETSes.

Can you post your current list? I also think rushing the combo is the way to go, Herald's Song and Ixtun Merchant look sensible but there are no such builds on EWC currently.

Raphael, late and not exactly what you were asking for, but this is the version of WWH that I have been playing recently.

My previous version that I asked Almost about was his list, but
+3 Ixtun merchant
+4 Herald's Song
+1 Hailstorm
-1 Scattershot (goes in Market)
-1 Wisdom of the Elders
-6 Removal Spells depending on the meta

+1 Kindle (Market)

So basically trading removal for combo speed

To me, Quarry looked like one of the deck's best cards, not sure how reasonable it is to cut is. Torch has been crucial too, both as cath-all removal, and as a part Bolt-Snap-Bolt-esque sequence which is Torch face, Herald hits for 2 and Torches face again. Getting colorscrewed is not that big of a problem in Eternal, and this version looks like it just concedes too much power in favor of questionable increase in consistency.
Almost Edited Eternal Version: 1.40
Well this deck still has 4 torch and a decent amount of fire sources, it's just that you can keep no-fire opening hands.
I agree that Quarry can do some very powerful things, but it can sometimes be tricky to find the time to play it if you have depleted power on turn 2 and want to play Merchant / Fanatic / Wisdom / Mirror on turns 3 and 4.

with the new mulligan rule, do you feel it will make a significant impact on how you build this deck in the future? which iteration would best play into the triple mulligan rule?
Almost Eternal Version: 1.40
Perhaps increased consistency in having early interaction would mean that catch-up cards like Hailstorm are less important. You could experiment with 50-power decks that abuse mulligan guarantees in order to rush a combo, but I consider such decks to be too weak if the combo is disrupted.
