This deck started off life as silly jank and then, unexpectedly, took me on a 28-0 gauntlet winstreak that's still ongoing at time of writing. The AI grossly underestimates
Trumpeting Warhowler and the wacky shenanigans you can do with it (especially with Zuberi, Crunch, and Mokhnati) plus does a really poor job of predicting fast spells like
Ice Bolt. Putting all this together means you can build up some absurdly strong topdecks with a few zuberi swings and burst out surprise lethal with ease.
Your ideal goal in brief is to get killer on
Zuberi, Outlands Warlord, then draw as many cards as possible with him and Warhowler on the board.
Crunch, the Hoarder,
Honor of Claws, and the awesome new
Sodi, Wingbreaker all facilitate the draw side of this - Sodi and
Groundbreaker are also at the really excellent 3/6 statline which lets them duck things like
Vanquish and
Torch while being solid blockers. Groundbreaker also prevents annoying lifesteal decks from getting out of hand and, with double damage, can really rack up the pain.
Howling Peak is still a great card that can turn any slim lead into an absolute blowout thanks to
Gun Down and
Mirror Image built into it; If you can copy a killer zuberi you probably just won the game on the spot. Especially if you give a
Champion of Fury +4 attack and double damage :D
The market is still undergoing testing but
Mokhnati, Restored is a hard lock here. Pulling him from market with Zuberi and Warhowler out gives you a
massive endgame finisher for games that drag on.
Torrential Downpour helps versus the many token/aggro decks in the gauntlet, and
Flame Blast is a highly useful card for both removal and reach damage. The other 2 slots are a little more questionable; I'm not wholly convinced a
Skycrag Banner is the right call, for instance.
BRIEF FAQ 1) Why no
Preyfinder?
I'm of the mindset that Preyfinder is honestly a bad card.
Honor of Claws does a better job of drawing cards since you don't need a developed board full of killers to get value from it, she's not a particularly great blocker, and
Howling Peak is a *much* more reliable card for accelerating a lead you already hold.
2) Why no
Jotun Feast-Caller?
I thought about it as a market inclusion for a while, but honestly a 4/4 aegis killer just isn't a particularly good card at this point in Eternal. It's been kind of powercreeped out. Mokhnati is a much better better "big threat that draws us cards" even if it does cost 3 more power.
3) Can I play this deck on ranked ladder?
Probably! I Played this up from Bronze to Silver with a ~75% WR earlier this month. Far from being "serious business" but it felt reasonably good while doing so. You will probably struggle versus decks featuring a large number of board wipes and anyone getting a good
Royal Decree hit off, however, due to the synergistic nature of our units.
Feedback definitely appreciated on this. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I have!
Still, only have one zuberi and given how few decks he's in (although I like to throw my single copy in decks for the lols) I'm not likely to craft another.
Will try it out
Why would it matter that Zuberi has Killer in particular, here? I know he'll get to trigger his ability while attacking a creature of choice, but that still seems somewhat mundane.
My only concern was the card draw. I found anytime I didn't get Sodi, I could end up without answers.
I know Crunch is fun because of overwhelm, but I've always found him underwhelming (pun intended). I dropped 4 Crunch in favor of two more Honor of Claws and two Preyfinder. I like the later because it plays into the Killer, and it's a solid early game body against aggro.
As for your concern about the Banner in the market, I totally agree. I dropped it for a Ferocity of the Bear and enjoyed the results.
Thanks for the fun deck!
I also think that Crunch is honestly one of the best units in this list; he accelerates extremely well from both Inspire effects at our disposal and helps with the draw niche. A 7-attack double damage killer crunch is truly a hilarious spectacle to behold and I strongly urge you to reconsider your stance on him.
Finally, Ferocity of Bear in market is a pretty neat idea - thanks for the suggestion and I'll try it on my next run!
