The new version.
Not sure why I didn't think of
Wasteland Broker in this list, but he works great. He means I don't have to play
Unearth the Past in the main and synergizes with
Great Valley Smuggler in that we can put stuff from the main into market that is better for the matchup via Broker multiples.
Survival isn't easy against aggro, but it is certainly possible with a big tempo turn in the middle game.
Shardbinder seems lame on paper, but is honestly kind of great in practice. I often end up going Shardbinder into relic, activate ping or draw sigil. Other times, the 1 cost amberlock repop is clutch. FYI, the Storm/Gate relic activations stick around when they go to the void, which is nice when you want to recur them later, but don't have a sac outlet.
Accelerated Evolution is in the market to literally go over the top of a midrange mirror. Not sold on
Obstructive Flicker in the market, but it seems pretty versatile and cheap and that's nice. It just hasn't panned out yet. Maybe just good on paper?
As you might have guessed, putting four copies of
Sashenka of Kosul into your deck late in a game is much better than having it in your main.
The general game plan is pretty straightforward: Don't die right away, draw cards, put relics on board and then go off with
Bottled Storm and
Waystone Gate combos as you draw cards and kill stuff.
MATCHUPS
Haunting Scream is a tough matchup, if not straight losing for us.
Creation and other aggro decks can run away with games too quickly sometimes, but if there's a window to get bigger things on board and remove their relics, things can turn around quickly.
Control is 50/50-ish, depending on the respective runouts.
Disciplinary Studies can really help with that matchup, should you be lucky enough to find it on time.
Xenan recursion and/or midrange is also 50/50-ish, but I think we're slightly favored, as long as their list isn't too greedy.
And that does it for this breakdown. I hope you enjoy playing the deck as much as I do (when it does the thing, of course).
Thanks for reading!
