I think I prefer the Iron Ursa to Milos (love that stealth spell counter), and the grenadin drones to pyroknight, but other than that, MAN OH MAN is this a rockin' deck. Was this just a copy from someone else? I'd love to hear how someone came up with the idea for this deck in the first place. It might just be the most effective reasonable shiftstone cost deck I've ever played.... What a deck!?!
Hey thanks Badger. There was a skycrag aggro deck going around (maybe a year ago?) by a player named Revan that was largely low to the ground like this one that was my inspiration for the list. When set 11 came out I knew the new units would slot really well into that archetype, so I made this list. My team and I messed around with several variations of the list after that, including the version with Iron Ursa and Grenadin Drones. JNL (the comment below yours) ran one of those versions in the Tuesday Night Eternal series and went on to win the invitational with it so perhaps that's where you've seen it before. This is the version that I ran after the recent nerfs to Houndmaster, Amaruq, and Salvo. The initial decision to replace the drones with pyroknight was primarily due to the nerf to amaruq and my feeling like grenadin drone's value had dropped. Not sure if it's correct. I've actually put drone back in for the time being to try it out. I also think Milos tends to be better than Iron Ursa at the moment since that card's initial novelty wore off and most people got pretty good at playing around it. Also, there's a huge value cost to Ursa if your opponent plays a large unit on turn 3 or 4 instead of a spell. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the explanation and the detailed reply. It's much appreciated. I never doubted you were doing the best thing you could think of for the deck. I'm a more casual player (even though I play 3 different accounts, LOL), so I'm never up among the leaders, and people down at my level are still surprised by Iron Ursa (you can tell when they have to read the card after having their spell countered). Really, I think it comes down to level of play and playstyle. One thing I've noticed with CCGs in general is two people can take the exact same deck, the exact same draw, and it'll win for one player but not for the other. This deck suits my play style incredibly well. Really, I think I've played it maybe 40 times and lost maybe 4 times (not an exaggeration). No matter what, I'm just extremely thankful you've made a deck even the more casual player can succeed with. I've been playing since set 1 and I mean it when I say I've never won this consistently before. The funny thing, to me, is every single time I win with it, I'm AMAZED that I won with it. It just doesn't feel like it should be able to win when you read the card list. Both Houndmaster and League Explorer are deceptively powerful.
