1st picked Minotaur Duelist over Hipshot. 2nd picked Bring Down over Cannonbearer. Hooru was open during packs 1 and 3, but Time was open packs 2 and 4. Should have switched over to Elysian. I even got passed a Sandstorm Titan on pack 4!
The deck is short on playables. The early units are average. The late units are below average. Interaction is also mediocre. I anticipate 1-2 wins.
G1: My opponent started off with Minotaur Oathkeeper and a bunch of 1 drops. I played a stranger. So he kept hitting with Knifejack. I followed up with Aerialist Trainer for which he used Slay and attacked with everything. I used Static Bolt on his Lethrai Nightblade. Fortunately, my Jotun Warrior finally stopped his attacks. I started adding fliers. He found Emerald Ring, Brightmace Paladin, and 2 Cabal Bludgeoners. My Prosecutor-At-Arms delayed his attacks. He gained a bunch of life, but didn’t have ways to punish my double blocks so I kept wearing him down on the ground while attacking for 5-7 damage in the air. I easily won the race.
G2: My opponent started off with a pair of Amber Acolytes and a stranger. I had a Spellshield Architect and Valkyrie Militant. I took several hits due to inability to block well. My Aerialist Trainer helped in that department until he had a random 5/5. I knew he had a trick, but didn’t have any way to get them out of his hand. Apparently he had multiple. So after 3 consecutive 2 for 1’s, I was out of gas.
G3: We both played random units. He played Ageless Mentor into Marisen’s Disciple. I played Morningstar onto a flying stranger and attacked. We traded units on the ground until I found a Jotun Warrior. He never found a solution for the Morningstar flier.
G4: I started off with Minotaur Oathkepper and a stranger. My opponent revealed Mistveil Drake, then played Cloudsnake Harrier and Jarral’s Frostkin. My opponent’s units were consistently larger than mine. His Jotun’s Cyclop’s 2 damage snowball was devastating on my tempo. Eventually I cleared the board and stabilized at 2, but his Swindle found him enough power to play the drake.
G5: I used 2 Static Bolts against my opponent’s 2 Minotaur Oathkeepers. He had a 3rd. It, Spellshield Architect, and Rolant’s Choice caused me 20+ damage while I tried to assemble enough units to trade. His Valkyrie Denouncer finished me off.
It sucked as expected. Mediocre units and removal meant defeat if my opponent mustered anything bigger than a 3/3.
