Introduction
I have long been fascinated with 'Pledge Matters' as a deck theme. On its own, pledge as a mechanic is not particularly exciting; a limited time inscribe that has you make the decision of putting away a valuable card before you truly know how the RNG will impact your power spread. The catch however, is that they printed
Glasshopper. That single card meant that I would devote many more hours to trying to make Pledge decks work, for the simple expedient of creating and drawing lots of copies of powerful cards.
This Deck
The initial conception of this deck involved putting
Star-Reader's Blade on
Glasshopper and it remained the core conceit for quite a while, until
Souleater Blade was created, won my heart, and subsequently became the energizing factor for reconfiguring many old decklists. the counter intuitive thing is that Souleater Blade is actually capable of doing the same thing Star-reader's Blade did, except it requires a second unit to place the Souleater Blade on:
Vox, Nurturing Sadist.
Fun Interactions
- Placing
Souleater Blade on
Vox, Nurturing Sadist will cause you to draw from the void any units
you sacrifice to his ability.
- Using
Flamebathe Reformation to beef up
Nika, the Freescaler and then using her ability a bunch.
-
Flamebathe Reformation just in general is great for closing out the game, especially by saccing
Syl, Hand of the Cabal to give a unit +4/+5 and Unblockable
