This is a slightly different take on Skycrag Aggro that pushes it slightly up the curve. I am sitting in ~top 15 with this, peaking around rank 8 (and by peak I mean I hit rank 8 and stopped playing for a few days), though it was pretty early on in the month so it doesn't mean a lot.
I wanted to post this deck because I thought it was briefly a fantastic deck, though I think the changes in the metagame have probably made it a lot weaker and I don't think I'll be playing it going forward. It has a fantastic matchup vs. FJS (all varieties), Combrei Aggro, good vs. Talir Combo, and around an even MU vs. Haunted Highway. For a while, these decks composed basically all of the meta, and I glided through ladder. However, most of that has changed, and this deck struggles vs. a handful of new threats, namely any deck with Tavrod, Big Combrei (they can stick a Sword of Unity way easier than Combrei Aggro), and other decks with lots of Aegis. Though I'm not sure how well it is positioned anymore, you probably could still hit masters with it pretty easily.
Feast-Caller, though reviled by many, was at his absolute best a week and a half ago: no Auric Runehammers, no Sandstorm Titans, and no Tavrod's. Vara takes away Aegis, but you usually just don't care—Vara hoses cards that give Aegis, not so much ones that already come with it. I won countless games by just sticking a Feast-Caller and swinging with Shugo Tactic or burn spells backing it up. Between that and Champion of Fury being the real best answer to Cookbook, I just set out to make a make a aggressively inclined aggro-midrange deck that could use both, and the deck built itself.
The Signal Flares and Rockslides are there to clear the way of opposing Dusk Raiders, small Awakend Students & Alessis, Initaites, and generally have a solid MU vs. Haunted Highway, since they kill everything in that deck. Mirror Image is really good when you don't have weapons + Vadius package, cloning Champions, Jennev Merchants, Poaching Drakes (I've chained 3-4 Poaching Drakes in a row vs Combrei Aggro), Feast-Callers... really just everything here. Speaking of Poaching Drake, the card is really good vs. Combrei Aggro, Haunted Highway, Talir Combo (transforming merchants is one of the best things you can do vs. them), and is one of the best answers to Alessi. Torch does suck, but they usually have to use it on your earlier units. Cloudsnake is there to just be a flying beater with nice upside with all of your spells. Dusk Raider is among the best Primal cards in the game right now and it synergizes very well with Feast-Caller, Champion, flying units, and Mirror Image.
If you're tired of standard Skycrag Aggro and want to try a different version, give the deck a try. May all your hands have Turn 2 Champion with charge.
or does the fact everyone is playing mono hailstorm ruin this deck
