SIGH - There is something deeply ironic that I posted this essentially the same day they decided to nuke
Invoke the Waystones from orbit. I'll leave this here for posterity, but make no mistake -- THE DIOGO COMBO IS DEAD.
Some people have recently been liking the idea of the
Diogo Málaga, Elonze combo, but using
Lethrai Soothsayer instead of the
Stonescar Excavator.
Well, if you want to have your cake and eat it too (have a Diogo combo deck that isn't really a Diogo combo deck), then look no further! I present to you the "Jennev's greatest hits with a side order of Diogo combo."
Plenty of specific card choices in here could be subbed out for other things. The basic idea is that this is a Jennev list with the best cards on offer for this color-triad. So, you can just play it like normal Jennev (though it is slightly worse than a normal Jennev). You can win with it like a normal Jennev. People will think it IS a normal Jennev.
But then you draw a
Garden of Omens. The epic music begins to play in the background. You know it's coming! You merchant for a
Diogo Málaga, Elonze. You play the
Garden of Omens and use the Ice Bolt or Melt Down, waiting for the next turn. Then it happens! On your next turn, you
Resurface for
Invoke the Waystones and then you play and amplify Diogo Màlaga, Elonze. The turn after that, the Destiny Invoke takes off, and you end the combo by attacking and playing
Lethrai Soothsayer to load up your empty deck with Premonition Bolts.
So yeah, it's a normal Jennev deck mostly, but with a side of Diogo combo.
There you go everyone, you're welcome. You can have a deck with the combo that isn't a combo deck. It's normal Jennev - but it isn't! It's Diogo combo - but it's more than Diogo combo! Anyways, enjoy.
