Goal of the deck is simple: Control the board until you get a bear down, then continue controlling the board.
Notable cards in the deck:
4x Permafrost used to be 4x Eilyn's Choice but I ended up wanting more proactive and cheaper cards on ladder when coming up against more and more aggro decks.
4x Hailstorm - Just say no to aggro. Also kills almost all the merchants in the format right now.
4x Jotun Feast-Caller - I wanted another "threat" other than just the bear and while Feast-Caller doesn't survive through Harsh Rule like the bear. I found it works really well with Korovyat palace (and we already know it works well with peak).
Power in the market - First the Hooru Banner fixes if you are missing your 3rd color no matter which smuggler goes and gets the power. Second, this is a control deck so missing a power drop on any turn really hurts your game plan and this market power lessens the possibility of that happening. Third, and connected to the second point, the power in the market makes a lot more opening hands keep-able when you can trade off your Xo (or whatever) for a power on turn 3. I have always been a fan of power in markets, and especially in control decks running 8 merchants.
A note on the mirror match:
Because your main way of controlling the board is by harsh ruling it over and over again, you are in an awkward situation if the opponent has a bear of their own. In these situations it is important to hold onto your torches to combine them with either more torches, hailstorms, or Howling peak smugglers to remove the bear. In the mirror match, an uncontested bear usually wins so you always have to be playing around how you will deal with a bear from the other side and how to protect your own bear.
