Icaria Blue control deck that I used to climb to Masters this month. Proof:
Card choices and explainations
This version of the deck is a hybrid between traditional Icaria Blue and Blue armory. With the rise of anti-aegis Vara, Temporal control and killer units, Icaria has become more vulnerable and we can't always depend on her to seal the deal. While the deck only runs 3 relic weapons, in combination with Rise, Icaria's warcry and 10 sweeper spells to keep the board clear, they are the deck's primary win condition.
Petition - the deck is extremely power hungry and has some steep influence requirements, so this card is absolutely crucial. Most of the time I fetch a Crest to fix influence or smooth draws, but the Waystone can also be tutored to protect from face damage or put an extra layer of protection on Daisho or Flamestoker
Rise to the Challenge - serves as an extra Icaria/Rizahn and wins the control matchup with the 12-to-the-face Daisho
End of the Story - the spot removal in this deck is a little limited, so having 10 sweepers is crucial. Knowing that you can often reset the board lets comfortably use a sweeper on a single dangerous unit. Also, keeping the board clean is the key to winning with relic weapons.
Starsteel Daisho - the new expansion has reduced Icaria's power level a bit, so this monster of a card makes an appearance. There is only one copy in the deck (to prevent clunky hands), but with our draw spells and Rise that makes it even more dangerous, Daisho is the deck's strongest finisher and wins the Temporal matchup on it's own (remember to have Aegis up before you start bashing face).
Market
Bore - best attachment hate in the game and gets through Aegis. This card is one of the main reasons for running the red merchant
Deepforged Plate - get it if you expect
Permafrost, or have a frosted unit on the board. It gives Rizahn the ability to block and wins the Skycrag aggro matchup
Rizahn, Greatbow Master - removal, lifegain, flying beater...
Flamestoker - great to put pressure in the control and midrange matchup, serves as another finisher if the big Valkyrie get turned into frogs or voidbound.
Icaria, the Liberator - the best control finisher in the game. It is important to have her and Rizahn in the market so that merchants double as finishers and so they are hidden from
In Cold Blood
The deck is really strong at the moment, but challenging to play. If you have any questions, please leave a comment!
