This is a Xenan Lifeforce deck that focuses on aggro and Lifesteal. It's in line with
Magic decks I've made, which often use lifegain as an offensive resource (
example here). I built it for only 3,300 Shiftstone, though I lucked into finally topdecking a
Katra, the Devoted in a pack.
The cards at each cost all divide into two categories: either they provide ways of gaining you Life, or they have Lifeforce to ramp off of it; this is to keep the deck working even if you don't find your Katra.
This deck is not very consistent. It's run away with games before, but it's also been flattened. It's possible to swing the tempo back by abusing Lifeforce, but it's also possible to get spot-removal'd out of contention before the ramping even starts.
Modifications I might make:
1) Load the Lifesteal into the earlier Power costs, to better guarantee that Lifeforce triggers. The early Lifesteal stuff is the deck's weak point, as it's easily taken out by almost any color, so the current approach to redundancy may not be the right one.
2)
Xenan Destroyer could be replaced with
Amethyst Ring. (I didn't because I didn't want to spend the Shiftstone, but the Ring is a harder threat for many decks to deal with.)
3) Swap out
Healer's Cloak for more
Execute and
Decay. Since the deck's main weakness is early spot-removal, the paradoxical response is to include some of my own, preventing the opponent from taking advantage of whatever board control they have achieved.
4) Add in 3 more sigils. I've noticed that the standard in
Eternal seems to be a 2:1 spell-to-sigil ratio, but my experiences in
Magic have led me to favor a 3:2 ratio... and I've been sigil-screwed enough times here to want to shift over.
5) I wonder if there's room for a
Hatecleaver or two...
