UNITLESS AT ANY COST

Hey guys, back again.. and I’m so BLIND to not have seen the Sorcery + Cost combo.. it’s soooo good, and this version, without having units, makes it super reliable that you aren’t wasting your turns playing units that in the end can get killed, or wasting a turn, pulling from the market.. it’s been edited 3 times to account for matches I had no answers to, and currently, the only weakness is that I have no real way to deal with relics.. so I has to become a race with those matches.. every other match, is winnable by far... hitting for 24 damage lifesteal, or even 12 damage lifesteal swings games instantly and results in a lot of scoops..

I’ve come to believe, that Forbidden Research has to be named as MVP.. drawing cards while gaining the crucial influence is HUGE.

The deck is simple. Only cards that draw or deal damage. Wrath of Caiphus to help with mana issues, and late game, it’s awesome to find pieces with a fresh hand. 30 power so you shouldn’t ever get screwed on mana. (Opt to keep a 3-4 power hand. 3 with a draw spell, 4 no matter what).. flooding is not a bad thing. We want mana, and this deck is hungry to gain influence. The fastest I’ve gotten the combo off was T6, and that game really sold me on this build... I played my usual 20 games, and I have lost 6... that to me is a pretty damn good ratio, and I’ve also had control, aggro, and combo matchups.. the only games I lost was due to not being able to grab Cost at the right time, or the opponent being able to consistently gain life over multiple turns.

The deck will take a few matches to understand what you are doing, but in laymen’s terms.. just draw as quickly as you can and stall the opponent.. “At Any Cost”... (see what I did there? Lol)

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the deck, and while there are other versions out there, this one is unitless and a blast to play!!

Thoughts and comments appreciated as always!

UPDATE: minor adjustment to the mana base so that we can get some kind of face protection. Dealing with some burn and frogs is tough when all it takes is one turn to prevent it. Will continue to test, but man of man! It’s awesome when you pull an insane combo and the deck comes together, especially when it’s evident you’d lose the following round!

UPDATE: games continue to be a blast, but really struggling with non-weapon relics and removing them before they get out of hand.. most times I can find the pieces before anything happens, but there are plenty-a-times when that’s not the case. Minor adjustments to the mana and cards for a little bit more of a chance is early interactions. Will continue to test!

UPDATE: so I decided, I HAVE to figure out some way to include relic removal, and this was the way for me to do it, through slight mana changes and transpose.. the only odd thing, is that I feel like the mana draw has been choked somehow from this.. the deck is still winning, but now only when I draw lands.. will continue to test, but this is by far my favorite build!

Love the deck! Feels awesome to play. The few changes I've made are + 4 x Makkar Evangel for the 4 x Extract, + 4 x Strategise for the 3 x Cull The Deck and a Feln Vow. I've also added a ]Permafrost, 2 x Re-read and 1 x Backlash, and took out the Wraith Of Caiphus, Savage Incursion and 1 of each Prodigious Sorcery and Stealth Strike. I also switched the final vow for a Shadow Sigil. Even though I've added the Makkar Evangel to the list, this card is only used to gain shadow influence and then can be chucked into the market and I feel this really helps make the deck more fluid. The Makkar Evangel can also be discarded to the Forbidden Research. Re-readis great for when your opp either strips one of your prime spells from your hand or against mill decks. Let them tip your deck into your graveyard. As long as you've got Re-read you can get back Prodigious Sorcery and then At Any Cost and just win the game. Strategise works way better with Makkar Evangel aswell as with Strategise you DRAW 2 cards gaining the influence from Makkar Evangel and then can bottom the Makkar Evangel aswell. Give it a go with the changes I made and see what you think and thank you for sharing the list

Hey man!... awesome. I’m glad you like it, and very interesting idea with the angels... I’ll make a copy and try it your way to see the difference.. I’ve been thinking about re-read.. so I’ll give it a go.. thanks for your response and input!

I've played versions of this deck when I was first starting out.

One thing I really didn't like was drawing Savage Incursion, Prodigious Sorcery, and Channel the Tempest early game.

You're right, relics are issue #1. Fire however should not be an issue. Extract is amazing there. I was using Vara's Favor; really helps against so many of ohse fire 1-health cards. Cards like Clan Standard can help against relic weapons. That or adding a simpleton Lightning Strike.

Transpose. Transpose. Transpose. Transpose. Face shields are nice. Also, these help add the burn damage to opponent's face. Maybe take out an aegis of theirs'.

Also, a lot of 4 drop cards that really help a deck like this:

Rain of Frogs
Bam, Sneakeepeekee
In Cold Blood
Silverblade Menace
Rejection
Wasteland Broker (you can transpose "IN" the card you want to broker)

You may even want to keep either Savage Incursion or Channel the Tempest in the market - just for brokering. Because these are cards you don't want until late game.

Annihilate is gud.

Also, really suprised to not see Re-Read. Re-read is a MUST.

Another option is to splash the Time faction. Simply for the cylixes. You'd have access to 8. But another reason is you could put Saber-Tooth Prideleader in the market. Your answer to relics.

But I'm guessing the relic you're having issues with most is Grodov's Burden? Bam can help with that. IF you're able to Bam it.

1 Backlash is good too. You can Prodigious Sorcery/Re-Read them if needed.

Hey! We’ve actually played against each other!... I think I had to scoop immediately cause you frogged my Cost Haha.... I completely agree with everything you’re saying, and believe it or not, my first variation had literally all of the cards you mentioned above.. had the brokers, with the frog and channel and whatnot in the market, had re-read and broker.... all of these... the thing was, for me, personally, it felt a bit clunky. I then made this variation which suited my play style more... I agree that having cards like transpose, re-read, and strike/standard are a must for these kind of decks, but the main idea was to try to stray away from that and take a different approach here... but yes, I do agree in the version that you are talking about... splashing time may not be a bad idea. Burden is really the only relic I’m facing a lot that’s giving me some trouble but overall I can assemble the combo quick enough... really appreciate you taking the time to elaborately comment! Thanks!

I do remember playing against this deck a few times recently. But I don't use Rain of Frogs much. Maybe if I decimated for one?

I feel you on playing your own style and version. I always just like to toss ideas around.

I thought of another card. From Below. But you might only mainboard this if you're splashing Time. Would be great against relics early, but would be difficult with all that onfluence you're gaining to keep it where you want. Also it transmutes into a unit so...

Shadow/Primal have dittily for relic removal. One of the few cards I can think of isFormbend. They recently buffed the card to make it cost only 1. The issue is... You'd have to play Formbend. Turning their burden into a 5/5 unit doesn't seem very effective. Sure you kill a relic but meh.

Stealth Strike is amazing. Also amazing to re-draw this. Mega value town.

I'm bummed I didn't have the 35K gold in game to play in the recent event because they were handing out 4 promo At Any Cost just to join it, and I only currently have 1 At Any Cost. Laaaaame.

Cool deck! ^__^
RennyMoses Eternal Version: 20.08.10
Awww man.. if ida known and paid attention I would’ve just did that instead of craft them haha... you might have decimated one, not sure... I’d really like to include time for some relic removal but the synergy of this deck is currently super awesome and I’m unsure how to squeeze the color in... from below is not bad, but it would change wicked quick based on the amount of influence in the deck.. I’ve dismantled all of my formbends, but I agree, changing them into units isn’t really proactive lol
Cirno_Of_The_Ice_Barrier Eternal Version: 20.08.10
I entered that event mostly for the At Any Costs. Then in the 40 packs I won, I pulled an At Any Costs -_-
I made a version with no legends aside from them based on a winning list but I haven't done well with that. I think the lack of Rindra's lifesteal plus replacing them with draw cards made me waste my power on draw spells and die more quickly. Extract looks like a better idea.
What's your win percentage looking like?
RennyMoses Edited Eternal Version: 20.08.10
I haven’t played throne in 2 months and was pushed down to bronze 1... I’ve used this deck two days ago in bronze and am not gold... I played something like 50 matches between throne and casual since I made this list a few days ago, and lost something like 15-17 games or so... so I personally think it’s good and of course needs to be more meta tweaked and I realllly wanna find a solution to getting the relic situation sorted.. the weapons aren’t a problem, it’s more stuff like burden or worldpyre.. I would say more wins than loses
JayMathy Eternal Version: 20.08.10
Having a blast with this deck but getting absolutely torched (no pun intended) by the mono fire aggro running around Throne.
RennyMoses Edited Eternal Version: 20.08.10
I know what you mean... that and some relic decks are giving me trouble... not sure what to really change to help the situation... other than that, I agree! It’s a blast! Glad you’re enjoying it :)
leejtr Edited Eternal Version: 20.08.10
I'm just passing by but just off the top of my head you will need to splash with another colour and play petition instead of wrath of caiphus. That would open up some options for relic removal.

If that's not an option you need a card that could just screw your opponents hand up. Shakedown or something similar. Just my 2 cents hope it's worth something
RennyMoses Eternal Version: 20.08.10
Hey! Thanks for the reply!.... I’ve looked into a 3rd color but it is more frustrating than not on mana restrictions.. it’s so nice to draw on curve with the right influence.. and discarding spells, slow your plan down.. I’d rather race to the combo in my preference. Wrath of caiphus isn’t really needed for the land, seeing as to we run 30... it’s there in case we have a suspect 2-land hand, we can pull ourselves out finding another.. I mainly use it when I get all my damage spells in the grave, and start flooding out.. I get a full grip, often time with sorcery or another at cost/extract, or draw spell.. so it’s more for resetting my hand on 8-10 power... but if you can come up with a relic hate version, I’d love to see it!
leejtr Eternal Version: 20.08.10
Nay, I'll leave it to you ! Makes sense I hear what you saying. Every list has a weakness after all ! I only have 3 at any cost so I'll have to wait until another one pops up to give ur list s try but looks really cool.
