So, hey, Icaria's back! Which means--let's dust off one of our favorite archetypes--Icaria Blue! Now with better interaction, and more merchants! As this is a control deck, a lot of the interaction will be "season to taste". More heavy midrange in your pocket of the ladder? Trim some copies of defiance for more ice bolts or pristine lights. More aggro in your pocket of the meta? Trim the 1-of chains and a copy of Icaria possibly for a fourth knife or some copies of Rizahn.

Market I'm not quite certain of either. Sediti is a very real concern (though I've beaten him when he appeared in combrei shells, though Rakano might be a different story), so molot might be better as royal decree just to pick him off before things get out of hand.

In any case, nothing in the maindeck needs double primal, and the banner in the market allows you to round out your influence because you play 4 privilege main. Also not sure if palace or peak is the better pull from the market, but I think Icaria is better than either as a wincon in the maindeck.

Anyhow, this is just a tentative list, but feel free to use it as a jumping off point if you feel like picking up this archetype again. Enjoy :D

Edit 1: Rekenner complained about not enough primal. Fixed that issue. Privilege is a little worse now though.

Fedayeen Eternal Version: 1.46.8
I don't like xo so much. I dont get it why everyone is using it in icaria decks.
HamAndSwiss Eternal Version: 1.46.8
He's mostly market fodder in deck with 8x merchants, or to bottom with strategize. When you think of Xo as a 0 influence 2 mana draw, with a blank card to market away, (or two blanks for 1 if you put them both away) you realize that is actually very good.

For example, strategize is essentially a draw one for the same cost, with primal influence, and thats one of the better draw spells in primal, which is really saying something.
Sedit Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Why don't you put Feast Caller instead of Hurler into the deck ? Better stats, aegis and way better effect in my opinion.
HamAndSwiss Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Hurler isnt played for the stats, its used usually as market fodder in decks with a ton of merchants, and the snowball is occasionally useful as well.
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.46.8
A) influence B) completely apples and oranges.
Umage Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Also my market is

Banner, Hailstorm, Vision, Peaks, Decree.

Molat was never good, and perma was fine, but I wanted access to another Hailstorm because I saw only aggro.
Umage Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Changed a bit of the deck.

-2 Smuggler, -3 Knife, -3 Xo, -1 Pristine, -3 Hurler, -1 Privelege

+4 Wisdom of Elders, +2 Hailstorm, +1 Daisho, +2 Rise from Challenge, +4 Eclipse Dragon

Went 16-2 to make it to Masters. I felt that I was buffing the bad creatures with Icaria too often, and wanted to smooth it out. Every creature in my version has evasion or charge, and the one weapon is game winning. Rise has been an all-star. You should try my list and let me know how it goes! Any help is appreciated.
Silvernight Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Was the store of this deck going in a drunken stupor? The assembly is not bad, but the store is crap.

unfortunately, deck is horrible trash

3F + Privilege power bases just don't work - you either highroll or play 0 cards. I highrolled all last night, then reality came crashing down for me playing it today, with game after game of 5 primal cards in hand, 0 primal sources.

then I looked at the math and realized that you're more skewed to the playing 0 cards half of that.
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Changed power base for you.

I was wondering something...why do people not pick Vargo? Is it just "dies to Runehammer/Stormhalt"? I ask because EVERYONE is now playing some variation on Icaria Blue, but I haven't seen the bear except in mine (replaced Hurler).

Only one other change -- I put Royal Decree in the market instead of Molot & Nakova. What situation do you use them for?
Khrane Eternal Version: 1.46.8
I'm surprised you pulled out Molot and Nakova. That's been MVP for me, maybe half my wins have been from it. I did put a decree in the market in place of the banner, though, which has been excellent.
montagohalcyon Eternal Version: 1.46.8
I may sound stupid for saying this, but I don't play control much and I honestly don't know what they're for. How do you win with them?
ThePlatypusKing Eternal Version: 1.46.8
A common line is to play a merchant, grab Peaks. Play Peaks, Mirror Image Merchant grabbing Molot. Choose Kaleb's Favor on the turn you can cast Molot to trigger Spark. Play Molot. Profit.
montagohalcyon Eternal Version: 1.46.8
I didn't think of this! Thanks.
Khrane Eternal Version: 1.46.8
It's an aegis threat and can kill sites, so it's great against control (minimum 2 for 1, often more). And the one-sided deal 4 clears most units against aggro. 8 Mana is a ton, but in a deck built to get to 7 for icaria, it's not hard to hit 8 for Molot. Unless they have burn, it's hard to lose once it resolves.
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Because not a lot of people play removal-pile style decks these days. FJS got *ALL* its units nerfed so hard that it can't stand on its own anymore, and now removal pile style decks often play damage-based removal, such as torch + snowball, and ice bolt. Also, 4 health for 4 power in a defensive deck does not make a good blocker.
montagohalcyon Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Yeah, I'm seeing it now.

I was trying to run Paladins earlier, and "Reyna, but blanks even more removal!" sounded fun.

At first I ran into a lot of situations where buffed Vargo was literally impossible for opponent to remove or surviving board wipes mattered.

But over more games his weaknesses are more apparent. Not having endurance is another.
AGhostlyToaster Eternal Version: 1.46.8
I still think a Vargo buffed by Withstand or Icaria is an extremely good thing to have and very likely to help you win the game. To me the card is questionable for how it performs when NOT buffed, but I still think it's a pretty good card in Icaria decks even though I don't like it much in non-Icaria FJP control.
AGhostlyToaster Eternal Version: 1.46.8
I use Vargo in mine and think he does pretty well. Really strong with palace and Icaria warcries.
Slepher Eternal Version: 1.46.8
My biggest problem with Vargo was that he didn’t win games and he was basically just a blocker for 4 in which case you might as will play a kill spell. If you played main deck Palace MAYBE he’s worth it but I don’t think playing Palace and Peak is what you want to be doing when your opponents are going to be slamming Icaria into them
ElsOphion Eternal Version: 1.46.8
Ice bolt is to popular I think is why people dont run vargo
