1st day of the new expansion deck- definitely an evolution of what I was playing before Dark Frontier landed, but I really think this deck came out well-
Sediti, the Killing Steel is a sweet card with a good body and a hell of an onslaught trigger,
Rime Conclave Smuggler is still good enough even if you don't manage the trigger, and
Pristine Light is just a goddamn beating when you get the chance to really use it. I spent most of a day grinding the hell out of
Martyr's Chainsdecks with these bad boys.
For the Market-
Vision of Austerity is pretty obvious,
Eilyn's Choice is mostly to provide removal, but is also good to have on-hand if you think there's a Channel the Tempest a-comin', The banner has better synergy with the merchant than I realized when I first put it in, since you have to play a unit to actually get it in hand, so it usually enters undepleted, I ran
Mokhnati, Restored originally, and kept finding it to be a bit too expensive and not amazing when I managed to play it, so I'm trying
Quicksilver Mirror as my Market's value option, and
Spirit Guide I put in after really feeling like the deck needed some form of lifegain, at least somewhere. Combines great with Endurance from Palace, if you're lucky, but is a better card than it gets credit for even without it.
Edit: Alright, we're 2 revisions in, and I have a few changes- the big ones are that I toned down the Primal influence significantly in favor of Justice, so I can plant Sediti more consistently, though not usually on turn 5, I'll admit, and the Hooru Pacifiers, which is a good card I should've been playing from the start, even if it doesn't synergize as well with Palace as I wish it did.
I'm also experimenting with Seek Answers as opposed to Seek Power. We'll see if it performs as well as I hope it does.
Edit: This is v4 now, with a few notable changes- Seek Answers is.... alright? A bit clunky, but I feel like I end up without enough power in the early turns with out it, and I do like it better in the late-game. Cut Feastcaller, they just weren't performing as well as I'd hoped, went up to 4x of a bunch of cards I was already playing instead. Pacifier has been fantastic, no regrets, maybe should be looking into other cheap units, but I'm just hesitant to play units that die to Hailstorm without an ETB of some sort that makes them worthwhile even if they just chump or die without much value.
I feel like I don't want Icaria in the deck just because that's going in a more aggressive direction than I'm leaning, not to mention dying to Hailstorm. That said, adding Hooru Pacifier recently was a huge boon for the deck, so I should probably be looking into more lower-cost creatures.
However, defiance as early removal just kills the unit. If you permafrost anything small it can be brought back with Palace. As a 3-of drawing multiples in a bad matchup is also a concern.
But hey, I'm building an aegis-themed deck in a game with Vara so it's just my opinion. If it works for you that's cool (and as an ftp I can't actually test it with pristine light so I'll take your word for it).
At least we can both agree that Ice bolt has no place in a control deck lol. That's a Skycrag exclusive.
Edit: well now you have Pacifier in the deck. That solves my main issue with it from before.
I'll try cutting the two permafrosts for an extra defiance and something else, but I dunno. The card is far from perfect anymore (Permafrosting a Vara Feelsbadman), but the card is so damn good against decks that are just trying to attack you with Teacher or Stonescar and Skycrag aggro.
I've considered Ice Bolt actually, it's tempting at times, and I'd play it here if I had to, but this deck does want to get ahead on tempo some of the time, and Ice Bolt's downside is real. There are just safer options.
1. It fetches duals
2. It isn't dead lategame.
Vs teachers, if you can (may not be posible with Sediti) running Eilyns favor shuts it out nicely with face aegis. Man I just realised what Torgov does with privilege. Wow I might run it more now.
