1st day of the new expansion deck- definitely an evolution of what I was playing before Dark Frontier landed, but I really think this deck came out well- Sediti, the Killing Steel is a sweet card with a good body and a hell of an onslaught trigger, Rime Conclave Smuggler is still good enough even if you don't manage the trigger, and Pristine Light is just a goddamn beating when you get the chance to really use it. I spent most of a day grinding the hell out of Martyr's Chainsdecks with these bad boys.
For the Market- Vision of Austerity is pretty obvious, Eilyn's Choice is mostly to provide removal, but is also good to have on-hand if you think there's a Channel the Tempest a-comin', The banner has better synergy with the merchant than I realized when I first put it in, since you have to play a unit to actually get it in hand, so it usually enters undepleted, I ran Mokhnati, Restored originally, and kept finding it to be a bit too expensive and not amazing when I managed to play it, so I'm trying Quicksilver Mirror as my Market's value option, and Spirit Guide I put in after really feeling like the deck needed some form of lifegain, at least somewhere. Combines great with Endurance from Palace, if you're lucky, but is a better card than it gets credit for even without it.
Edit: Alright, we're 2 revisions in, and I have a few changes- the big ones are that I toned down the Primal influence significantly in favor of Justice, so I can plant Sediti more consistently, though not usually on turn 5, I'll admit, and the Hooru Pacifiers, which is a good card I should've been playing from the start, even if it doesn't synergize as well with Palace as I wish it did.
I'm also experimenting with Seek Answers as opposed to Seek Power. We'll see if it performs as well as I hope it does.
Edit: This is v4 now, with a few notable changes- Seek Answers is.... alright? A bit clunky, but I feel like I end up without enough power in the early turns with out it, and I do like it better in the late-game. Cut Feastcaller, they just weren't performing as well as I'd hoped, went up to 4x of a bunch of cards I was already playing instead. Pacifier has been fantastic, no regrets, maybe should be looking into other cheap units, but I'm just hesitant to play units that die to Hailstorm without an ETB of some sort that makes them worthwhile even if they just chump or die without much value.

Sceadugenga Eternal Version: 1.46.2
I've been toying around with the skeleton you've posted here, and it's great fun. I agree with the argument below that baby icaria belongs here and that there is a lot of fixing (swap seek answers for Icaria imo), but I like that we arent running bad cards (spireguard) to try to make icarias valkyrie buff matter that much. My biggest suggestion, between 3 palace and 4 main deck little svetya, is a singleton quicksilver mirror in the market. If you onslaught the hooru smuggler you aegis yourself to protect the piece from hand disruption, and then you can finish the game with a svetya hard lock
ToastasaurusRex Eternal Version: 1.46.3
I'll try the mirror, considering I've foung Mokhnati in the market to be underperforming. If it were only good with Svetya, I probably wouldn't, but the fact of the matter is that it's just a solid value card if the game goes long enough for it to be useful.
I feel like I don't want Icaria in the deck just because that's going in a more aggressive direction than I'm leaning, not to mention dying to Hailstorm. That said, adding Hooru Pacifier recently was a huge boon for the deck, so I should probably be looking into more lower-cost creatures.
BHV Eternal Version: 1.46.1
Permaforst is dead as removal. It died the moment Palace was printed (and was already unreliable and only run for it's cost). If there's too much fixing I'd look at moving hailstorm to the market and adding +1 defiance +3 Valkyrie Enforcer and +3 Baby Icaria. Enforcer is just really good, baby Icaria ramps and gets a justice pip for sediti and buffs Seditis/Enforcers/maybe an Amilli or 2 in hand and both are great at triggering onslaught for Smuggler (something this version doesn't take full advantage of).
ToastasaurusRex Eternal Version: 1.46.1
That's a lot of plans that make the deck loose to aggro.
BHV Eternal Version: 1.46.1
If you're seeing a lot of aggro then hailstorm can stay in the main but permafrost is just bad imo.
ToastasaurusRex Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.1
Defiance has all the same problems and still sees constant play, and with Pristine Light, units I permafrost aren't actually sitting around forever if they're big enough for Palace to buff. It's not great in the Hooru matchup, but the deck has enough filtering, between Honor of Claws and the Merchants, that you can afford to play some narrower cards so long as they have matchups they're good in.
BHV Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.1
We'll have to agree to disagree then I guess. If palace ever does land it feels awful, but you have a point.
However, defiance as early removal just kills the unit. If you permafrost anything small it can be brought back with Palace. As a 3-of drawing multiples in a bad matchup is also a concern.
But hey, I'm building an aegis-themed deck in a game with Vara so it's just my opinion. If it works for you that's cool (and as an ftp I can't actually test it with pristine light so I'll take your word for it).
At least we can both agree that Ice bolt has no place in a control deck lol. That's a Skycrag exclusive.
Edit: well now you have Pacifier in the deck. That solves my main issue with it from before.
ToastasaurusRex Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.3
I did cut a permafrost and add pacifier, as you said, and you were right, Pacifier has been a great call, good enough against control and midrange because it is additional gas, and it's the defensive body you need against agro.
I'll try cutting the two permafrosts for an extra defiance and something else, but I dunno. The card is far from perfect anymore (Permafrosting a Vara Feelsbadman), but the card is so damn good against decks that are just trying to attack you with Teacher or Stonescar and Skycrag aggro.
I've considered Ice Bolt actually, it's tempting at times, and I'd play it here if I had to, but this deck does want to get ahead on tempo some of the time, and Ice Bolt's downside is real. There are just safer options.
BHV Eternal Version: 1.46.3
If you're still looking for early game units you could try Headhunter but I've found it a bit slow. Pacifier is a 3/4 flier which is the perfect defensive statline. Dodges torch and vanquish, holds back most early units too. Ice bolt is good when your opponent is under enough pressure that the ramp isn't good. Even in Skycrag, on a slow draw it feels kinda bad. Seek answers is great imo because
1. It fetches duals
2. It isn't dead lategame.
Vs teachers, if you can (may not be posible with Sediti) running Eilyns favor shuts it out nicely with face aegis. Man I just realised what Torgov does with privilege. Wow I might run it more now.
Melkor Eternal Version: 1.46.1
I made a version without torgov, I put a runic hammer in his place, and it has been giving great results
JTJag Eternal Version: 1.46
I dunno, this deck feels like it really wants more units and has too much fixing to me.
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.46.1
agree. pile of good cards sure, but very undefined. not enough creatures for midrange and too many 4 and 5 drops for control. Svetya seems really out of place
