A midrange deck that can outlast Chalice but blunt SS aggro--that's the foundation of this deck.
This deck leverages a lot of "sticky" aegis units (Bart, Shelterwing, Throne Warden) and useful summons (Copperhall Baliff, Enforcer, Nostrix) in combination with Dark Return and Eye of Winter. Keep pressure on your opponent, make them waste multiple removal to get rid of yours. Board-wipe with Harsh Rule and Eye of Winter what your opponent plays next. Hit 7 power and use Bartholo to fetch your Eyes of Winter for extra lockdown. Use Nostrix to buff units and then bring them back again and again.
Vs. Aggro: Getting blockers up early is key (Kothon), but so is de-buffing the opponent's go-wide strategy (Copperhall Baliff) and turning off warcry/instigator (Valkyrie Enforcer). Use Shelterwing Rider as a "sticky" wall and finish the opponent off with Throne Warden's providing a final defensive link.
Vs Chalice: Chalice matches certainly evolve from early game, where you can be the beatdown, to later-game (Chalice deck has 8+ power and possibly multiple Chalices) where you're trying to stall them out and avoid Tempest to the face.
Eye of Winter is very helpful in these matches, since you can lock down Chalice targets with stun and prevent extra card draw. Your aegis units will give them fits, especially Bartholo, and you should try to land a Nostrix buff on either Bart or Shelterwing.
Copperhall Baliff is less useful vs chalice, but if timed properly, with Eye of Winter support, you can use them for chip damage/warcry better targets (a buffed throne warden or Bart can be a game-winner). Where possible, save Kothon until you can get a guaranteed ultimate to give your opponent multiple threats to deal with. If the chalice board is filling up, you want a Harsh Rule on hand, but watch out for Eilyn's Choice-- you don't want to get blown out. Dark returns should be reserved for aegis units: Bart, Shelterwing, and Throne Warden, if possible. Don't forget, Nostrix doesn't buff units in the void, so plan your dark return plays carefully to take advantage of that.
