A list I've been playing with the last few days, and am still testing and refining, but it has been winning on ladder. It uses the same basic formula as ManuS' FJP HootHoot Plate list
FJP Plate v2, except with Shadow in place of Fire. With Shadow we pick up some cards that are great in the meta right now, like
Sabotage.
Explanation of card choices:
Permafrost
Great tempo card, also pairs nicely with
Miris Nightshade as it counts as a curse boosting her to a 4/3 potentially on turn 2. I started with 3, but as Sentinels and Icaria are popular on ladder right now I dropped it to 2 since we also have access to Slay.
Sabotage
Great against the FJP lists to grab deepforged plate, or an early torch. Grab relic weapons vs armory, and card draw vs control. Only running 3 as this is better early game, but we dont want too many late game.
Borderlands Waykeeper
This card is so great in the meta right now, and Im surprised its not in more lists. Its a reliable 2 drop as it only requires one blue influence. It has aegis so most aggro or control decks dont bother trying to pop the aegis. It block Onis, Pyroknights, Grenadins, Gunslingers etc. The ideal hand would drop this turn 2, equip a bloodletter turn 3, and pay for the ultimate turn 4 for flying. The opponent has to play 2 cards to kill it, and it also survives wrath.
Kothon, the Far-Watcher
Amazing card, this will usually get a bloodletter on turn 3. The ultimate late game too is great vs control.
Miris Nightshade
Another reliable turn 2 drop, that puts pressure on the opponent, it gets buffed by permafrost, and will buff itself for 5 power later in the game to draw you an extra card. The 2 damage from nightfall is also significant forcing through the last few points of damage.
Protect
To buff back up the Shelterwing rider, or save creatures from a wrath.
Bloodletter and
Hammer of Might
Bloodletter at 3 comes out a turn earlier than hammer of might, and 2 turns before deepforged plate. It gets you life and is amazing on a borderlands waykeeper or kothon early, or a shelterwing late game. Hammer on anything is great, and if it puts the warcry on a makto its pretty amazing.
Vanquish, and
Slay
Best removal in the game. Usually you save this for endurance units, or things you cant get around.
Unseen Commando, and
Valkyrie Enforcer
The entire reason to play justice. Save Enforcers for Icaria, or Makto, or Sandstorm Titan.
Shelterwing Rider
A 5/5 for 4, you can pump it back up with a protect, or put a weapon on it for early or a late game finish. Blocks icaria really well.
Inquisitor Makto
This is your finisher, the hope is the opponent has spent their hand dealing with all the smaller units that they have nothing left to deal with this. It comes back after a wrath, and can block icaria and come back for more. It made the deck a lot better vs control matchups.
The powerbase may need some tweaking, some hands with lots of crests can be slow, but common cause is amazing with 16 unseen and 8 valkyrie units.
Cards that didnt make the cut:
I really wanted Piercing Grief to replace Whirling Duo for lifegain, early pressure and vs armory decks, but in the end I didnt like that the unit doesnt stick around for more than 2 turns.
I tried Tavrod in the Makto slot, but when he missed his draw he is terrible and dies so easily now.
Please give me any feedback below in the comments, its been a fun deck to play on ladder, and is a great option in the current meta.
nice to see you get it on here :D
