Greetings,
Here's a deck I've been using to grind the Gauntlet with success. You're probably not going to use it to climb the ladder, but it's fun in casual too. It features a card I really like:
Recurring Nightmare. The point is to control the board with removal while using
Wanted Poster and
Gorgon Fanatic to draw. Ultimately, getting
Orene's Scepter and
Recurring Nightmare out at the same time can generally create a very difficult situation for the opponent to handle.
If Nightmare goes to the void, there's
Sinister Rumors and
Haunting Scream for returning it. Scream is cool because Nightmare goes back to your hand if it's infiltrate ability activates instead of returning to the void. Hand-destruction can ruin your day, but it almost always ruins my day.
Some other stuff:
-
Ripknife Assassin can often buff Nightmare (I guess, if you're lucky).
- The
Ghostform from
Rune of Illusion can be awesome if played at the right time. It mainly comes into use in longer matches. A 16/1 Nightmare with lifesteal that can't be blocked is fun.
- The market is mostly used for extra removal or for
Black-Sky Harbinger. I've also ran the market with
Dire Bonecleaner but ultimately took it out.
- I often use
Shadow Etchings to fetch extra power instead of using something like
Vara's Favor.
- I only used the
Research Lab from
Justice Sketch a handful of times. It could probably be removed.
- Actually, the power base can probably be optimized better. I didn't update it as I changed stuff around.
-I run it with 4 copies of Scepter. It probably isn't needed in gauntlet since decks in that format don't seem to run attachment removal very often. But, I also play this deck in casual, and attachment removal is fairly common in multiplayer.
Anyway, Nightmare is kind of a clunky card, but I've been going back to my collection and revisiting older cards lately. It's kinda fun mixing some oldies with the new.
