(according to TheBoxer, apparently)
I was listening to an episode of the Backlash podcast the other day, and TheBoxer talked about how REAL deckbuilding starts when you start including 2-ofs and 3-ofs instead of just jamming 4 of everything. So, here you have it. A deck that has a bunch of non-4-ofs.
Memes aside, there is a method to all of the uneven numbers in this
At Any Cost deck. I should point out that this is more of a control deck that happens to have AAC rather than a deck that's heavily in on the combo. It sees plenty of cards, so all those numbers are magnified. Furthermore, with the 4
Prodigious Sorcery to try to put away the game, having a wide variety of cards to choose from is a big deal.
It was actually a pretty big breakthrough for me when I realized I could shave copies of At Any Cost and still close out the game. AAC wasn't quite pulling its weight, but it turns out you only need to see one copy per game. The real focus of this is Prodigious Sorcery, and recurring the right spells for the job at hand.
This deck has potential, but it's not quite to where I'd like it to be for competitive play. The powerbase can be on the clunky side and sometimes your answers don't quite line up to their threats. Also,
Transpose markets are often awkward, though I think it's the market access of choice for Prodigious Sorcery.
That said, this deck is a lot of fun and has game against a very wide variety of strategies. Hitting somebody for 24 with AAC is always a blast, but also you can grind folks out with a lategame
Savage Incursion.
