Really this is heavy-P skycrag, splash T for Supplier and Wump & Mizo.
Does all the things you’d expect a
Mother of Skies deck to do - plays a bunch of multi faction units, tries to activate
The Throne Room in the air, draws a bunch of cards.
Considerations:
My removal suite is
Permafrost,
Sear and Turn To Seed, with
Ice Bolt in the market. There’s an argument to be made that you could swap Ice Bolt and TTS, since ice bolt is more broadly applicable, though with a more immediate downside. The main reasons I’ve stuck with TTS are that several threats need to be immediately transformed since they’re too powerful - things like Ijin, a value engine that will outpace tokens; Sandstorm Titan, which shuts down your fliers and is too big for killers; Severin or other Surge payoffs, which are uncommon but will impact the board repeatedly.
Market:
For access, I’ve included both primal etchings, since this deck primarily wants primal influence to get going but occasionally wants a single threat, and Wasteland Broker to stall the ground and shuffle in the card draw engines to favorably seed draws in the mid-game. There’s probably an argument to swap etchings for seek power, but I prefer the overloaded role and flexibility it has.
From Elements can be useful if you have Party Pair out, but it’s mostly a win-more card once it has transmuted, and often isn’t accessble until it has exhausted its usefulness. Might be better off as something like Kaleb’s Choice, though it’s effectiveness is lessened without fast-speed market access.
Flexible cards:
Steam Sprite can break board stalls and is another flyer, but requires a board to work to the greatest effect.
Master Conjurer was a consideration, but this deck is rather unit-heavy and not optimized for T influence.
Nesting Raven procs Mother and is a passable ground blocker early on, but is still a weak card on its own.
Maveloft Huntress just didn’t feel strong enough without many good imbue bases, but might warrant another look.
Power base:
Primal symbols were excluded because they made undepleted power too much of a headache. With more sigils, you’re more likely to be able to drop something on 2 and have more flexibility with your turn 3 follow-up, whether it’s Mother into a multi faction, or a 2 drop into Throne Room.
Update: swapped Kenna and Wisdom - Kenna was often stuck in my hand, but is still good Broker value, while wisdom will be playable much more often and was an awkward fit in the market anyway. Replaced From Elements with Savagery, since being able to stick a killer attack is more useful late-game, especially if Party Pair or Throne Room is online.
Update 2: added iceberg scattershot for steam sprite - the face pings count for Throne Room, making it easier to get to Daraka/Eilyn. Also messed with power to work around Petition, and changed to Crack/Burden for market options.
