Just kidding, it's actually rakaggro lul.
Most of this is the typical
Highland Sharpshooter +
Warhelm combo that's been chugging along strong since set 5 and I'm not going to bother with a play guide since it should be super obvious how to play this deck. When the face plays taunt, you still go face (yep).
I will address some of the less-typical choices here however:
-
Unmoored Valkyrie has been a surprise hit for me with the absence of
Whirling Duo from this rotation of Expedition. People don't expect this card and, with 11 maindeck activators, you get the lifesteal pretty reliably. It also makes for a great warcry recipient and is a decent flyer as we're not running
Valkyrie Enforcer anymore.
-
Vanquish over
Defiance since I fundamentally believe that setting up your deck to automatically lose to time fatties is a flawed deckbuilding philosophy. You already have
Torch and the game's best lifesteal unit for handling aggro. You don't need more anti-aggro tech.
-
Minotaur Platemaker is a pretty good medium body in and of itself. It also can activate Hojan and Sharpshooter, scales well with warcry, and is a hilarious finisher if you can give it charge.
-
Granite Coin instead of
Diplomatic Seal gives us another tool to pop aegis and weenie units; It's really useful in the aggro mirror.
Market Justifications
-
Flame Blast is more flexible than
Obliterate since you don't have to spend the full 5 power on it. FFF influence requirement is trivial to hit with
Rakano Insignia.
-
Urn of Choking Embers makes it easier to go face and proactively pops aegis.
-
Pristine Light lets you wipe a board full of midrange fatties without harming your own weenies. Even if it will kill your own units, just A Space Go Face and you'll get everything that dies back in hand anyways. I'm shocked this card hasn't been nerfed yet tbh.
-
Combustion Brawler is lowkey an amazing card; It's
Cinder Yeti mixed with
Factory Quota in a 6/4 body! You'll most likely be playing it shifted, which is great since then it will only die to
Harsh Rule or
Pristine Light, then a 6+ damage unblockable swing can help close out games nicely.
-
Deepforged Plate is, as always, the best rakaggro finisher. Period.
Feedback appreciated. This deck goes fast and wins fast. Enjoy.
To throw in a pair of final anecdotes on it,
1) Worst case scenario then Valkyrie eats a torch or vara's favor instead of Hojan eating it
2) It's an amusingly good card in an aggro mirror matchup. Time will tell if Expedition continues to be rife with aggro now that Saber-Tooth Prideleader is in this rotation however.
