I play Gauntlet exclusively and keep stats on every deck I make tiering them by their ability to get to the boss and ability to beat the boss (full clear). Lots of my deck have 95% in both, but only 5 out of 100s of my decks have never lost in over 15+ full clears in gauntlet, and here is one of them! It's not that hard to make an OP gauntlet deck, the challenge is making them fun.
Overview
I usually make a deck out of every promo, so here is the one for
Velok, the Witherflame.
Velok allows you to full clear through aegis and regen, and some of your creatures are immune to it (
Direwood Pack and
Soul Collector). It's also fun to try to calculate the clears with the order and the corrupted units.
Usually you just keep
Velok, the Witherflame in hand until you need to clear. You can also play it and sac it for draw since you can easily bring it back with
Voprex's Choice or
Haunting Scream.
There's one
Centipede Keeper because the card is good in the deck, but I couldn't fit it. You can get rid of it and add a
Twisted Farmer.
Twisted Farmer is used for sac fodder,
Direwood Pack building and for the
Kato, Arena Herald condition.
Mulligan
Looking for
Kato, Arena Herald,
Grenadin Drone,
Two-Face,
Unfamiliar Interloper
Market
Soul Collector can be used with a Velok clear. Even at 1/1 the soul collector won't die.
Haunting Scream can be used to full clear with a velok in the void for only 3, or it can get
Kato, Arena Herald to create two 8/8s.
Influence
You want 1 of each initially, then 3 purple for
Velok, the Witherflame, then 4 red for
Granite Waystone
Alternatives
All other potential cards I thought of that fit the theme of the deck for either market or maindeck are in the Sideboard
i might try something like this:
-1 centipede keeper, -1 velok (and maybe -1 brood of hecaton depending on how good dreadscale is) > +2 (or 3) dreadscale harbinger
i would test it myself but i don't have kato or the stones to craft him (which sucks because he's insanely strong and is in a LOT of lists).
