As a disclaimer I won't say this deck is particularly powerful however, it's a fresh take on what some might see to be a pretty stale meta. I'll explain card selection below as there are a number of eyebrow raisers(in addition to cards that I myself am not convinced of yet)
Without further ado lets take a look at what makes this deck tick:
1.Derry Cathain: The two drop slot in a lot of older spellcrag lists was never really ever set in stone. I tried a number of different options(honored skyguard, powderglider) but it seems most decks are either interested in going over(Peaks, FJS) or going under to put pressure on Sites based decks. Derry sits at a cool 4 health, just outside of torch range and gets stronger simply by playing the game of Eternal. The real reason she's MVP is her summon ability, it's not uncommon to drop her on back to back turns entirely messing up the opponent's early gameplan.
2.Crunch: I debated a lot on whether or not Crunch was the best 3 drop for the job. We don't really have any pump spells to take advantage of his berserk nor do we really need his draw ability and in all honesty I could see him being replaced with Vadius or any other 3 drop that either 2 for 1's the opponent or gives us card advantage.
3.Feast Caller and Xo: If left unanswered will win the game in 1 or 2 swings. Xo has added benefit in that he counts as a pseudo spell with Treasure Trove. I only had 2 and I feel maybe 1 more would help simply because more troves to filter through the deck with.
4.Dissociate: This card is the reason I was able to make the last push to masters. Having attachment removal main deck is incredibly valuable and the counter ability is absolutely amazing. Adding 3 cost to a spell or attachment is usually enough to time walk an opponent twice.
5.Burn: There's enough burn in this deck to end a game very very quickly. In fact finishing games with this deck usually feels like MtG's Bolt-Snap-Bolt. With Howling Peak Smuggler it makes all the burn spells that much more lethal.
Tips on playing the deck:
Much like Delver decks of MtG this deck can either go a more controlling route or a more aggro route depending on the opening hand. Sometimes you get Champion of Fury back to back or sometimes you get Feast Caller plus removal.
Don't race aggro decks. We are not an aggro deck.
In a similar vein, don't underestimate the other modes on Display of Instinct. Countering an important spell or gaining some life could prove be invaluable
Know your opponent. Using valuable removal on the wrong target usually spells game over.
Plan ahead. Market preemptively, burn the opponents face preemptively. I can't tell you how many games I had where I drew into more burn that would have won me the game had I not used Torch on a meaningless unit one turn prior.
I am still on the fence about the Market and having Burn Them All main. There are games where both are great and there are games where they feel clunky.
The power base is not ideal, it was an oversight I made as I tinkered with the rest of the list. In addition, Zal Chi would without a doubt be a better replacement for Xo and Cykalis would probably like this list as well. I did not have those cards and someone with the resources/cards may want to make those changes
